On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan and Tree Preservation Day, Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary on Friday tied a rakhi to a tree at Patna's Rajdhani Vatika-1 to give a message of environmental protection. He also planted a Nagalingam sapling in Rajdhani Vatika-1 campus. The program was organized by the Department of Environment, Forests and Climate Change. The state-level 'Tree Conservation Day', organized on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, aims to create environmental awareness among people, encourage them to conserve trees and promote tree planting. By tying Rakhi to a tree, the Chief Minister emphasized the inter-connection between nature and human life. The program conveyed the message that just as brothers and sisters pledge to protect each other on Raksha Bandhan, society should also pledge to protect trees, plants and natural resources. The program emphasized the important role of trees in protecting the environment and mitigating the effects of climate change. The department said that large-scale planting of trees and protection of planted trees is necessary to reduce the adverse effects of climate change on the earth. Various government schemes and initiatives are raising awareness among the people of the state regarding environment, wildlife and animal conservation and plantation. Efforts are being made to connect the public with nature conservation through programs like Tree Conservation Day. Environment, Forests and Climate Change Minister Dr. Ram Chandra Prasad, Department Additional Chief Secretary Anand Kishore, Chief Minister's Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh, Department Special Secretary Alok Kumar, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Arvinder Singh and other senior officers and dignitaries were present on the occasion.
