Patna Municipal Corporation to organize 'Ganga Marathon'

Patna, 31 March (ABN) To raise public awareness about the protection, cleanliness, and environment of the Ganga, the Patna Municipal Corporation and the Sanstani Ganga Foundation jointly organized the "Run for Ganga" marathon 2026 on JP Ganga Path on Tuesday. The marathon, held as part of Swachh Survekshan 2026, aimed to create awareness among city residents about cleanliness, Ganga protection, and the environment, and to promote public participation. The marathon was flagged off by Diigha Assembly constituency MLA Sanjiv Chaurasia, Mayor Sita Sahu, and Deputy Mayor Reshmi Chandra Vanshi. Over 500 runners and skaters participated in the marathon with enthusiasm, covering a distance of approximately four kilometers from the JP Ganga Path circle to the LCT Ghat. The participants included a significant number of youths, women, children, and senior citizens. During the marathon, sponsored by the State Bank of India under CSR, an astonishing atmosphere of enthusiasm, energy, and dedication towards Ganga protection was seen throughout the route. Vishal Chauhan secured the first position in the marathon, followed by Ajit Kumar in second and Nutan Kashyap in third. In the skating competition, Sanvi Chauhan secured the first position, followed by Miyan Maland in second and Aarav Kumar in third. The top three winners of the marathon were awarded cash prizes of Rs 25,000, Rs 15,000, and Rs 10,000, respectively. The winners of the skating competition were also awarded mementos.
