Patna (ABN) Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Water Resources Vijay Kumar Choudhary, while issuing strict directives to the concerned authorities, said that all preparations to deal with possible floods and drought in the state should be completed before the scheduled time and with the best quality. Presiding over a high-level review meeting held at the Sinchai Bhawan auditorium, the Deputy Chief Minister clarified that all necessary safety measures should be completed ahead of time without waiting for the deadline, so that they can be reviewed again if needed and shortcomings can be addressed. The Water Resources Minister warned the officers, saying "officers who demonstrate excellent and sincere performance will be deserving of appreciation, while those who show deliberate negligence and laziness in their duties will face strict disciplinary action." At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, Secretary of the Water Resources Department, welcomed Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary and gave a detailed briefing on the preparations being made by the department to strengthen the flood management and irrigation system in the state. During the review meeting, the Deputy Chief Minister took stock of the situation in various flood-affected districts of the state. He discussed the progress of works to prevent river erosion, repair and maintenance of dams, availability of necessary equipment for flood protection, and 24-hour monitoring of highly sensitive areas, and issued necessary orders on the spot.
