Promotion of mechanization in sugarcane cultivation, permits issued to 3173 farmers to purchase agricultural equipment

Patna, Sep 2 (EBN): With an aim to make sugarcane cultivation modern, cost-effective and more profitable, the state government has accelerated the implementation of mechanization scheme for sugarcane farmers. Under the scheme, permits have been issued to 3173 farmers of the state for purchase of agricultural implements and sugarcane juicer machines. Selected farmers will be given a subsidy of 40 to 50 percent on the purchase of agricultural implements, while the subsidy amount will be transferred directly to their bank account after completion of the prescribed process. Sugarcane Industry Minister Sanjay Kumar has directed the officials of the department to speed up the implementation of the scheme and ensure that the eligible farmers are benefited in a transparent manner within the stipulated period. He said that the government is taking continuous steps for the sustainable development, economic stability and increase in income of the sugarcane farmers. The minister said that under the sugarcane mechanization scheme, 40 to 50% subsidy has been arranged for the purchase of 44 types of agricultural equipment and sugarcane juicer machine. With the use of modern machines, sugarcane sowing, weeding, weeding, tilling and other agricultural works can be completed in less time and with less effort. This will also increase production and productivity along with saving labor and time of the farmers. Purchase within 30 days After issuance of the approved agricultural implement permit, the concerned farmers will be able to purchase the approved machine from the authorized agricultural implement dealer within 30 days. The subsidy amount will be directly transferred to the bank account of the eligible farmers after the purchase of the machine and completion of the process as per the prescribed rules. Online applications were taken till August 25 for the mechanization scheme. The applications received were checked and verified by the concerned Assistant Director, Guna Development as per the prescribed procedure. After the verification, permits were issued for the purchase of agricultural equipment in favor of eligible farmers. Lower labor cost, help in increasing production. This will reduce labor cost, increase work speed and improve farming efficiency. At the same time, scientific and mechanized methods of sugarcane cultivation will be promoted, which is expected to have a positive impact on the yield, productivity and income of the farmers. The Gana Mechanization Scheme is an important initiative of the government in this direction.
