Chandigarh, MP Raghav Chadha, upset over being removed from the post of Deputy Leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the Rajya Sabha, has questioned the party high command. The party has recommended to the Rajya Sabha Secretariat to appoint Ashok Mittal in place of Raghav. Mittal is the founder of Lovely Professional University in Jalandhar. Raghav was a prominent face during the 2024 Punjab Assembly elections. He has been absent from Punjab politics for some time.
Raghav Chadha released a video today, in which he can be seen saying, "I have been silenced, not defeated. Whenever I get a chance to speak, I raise the issues of the common man. In Parliament, I speak on issues that are not usually raised in the House."
He asked if raising public issues and speaking on public issues is a crime. Did I commit a crime, did I make a mistake? Chadha said he is asking this question because the Aam Aadmi Party has written to the Rajya Sabha Secretariat to ban Raghav Chadha from speaking in the House. He asked why someone wants to stop him from speaking. When I speak, I speak for the common man of the country.
In Parliament, I raised the issue of expensive food at airports, tolls, and bank robberies. I discussed the looting of the middle class, how telecom companies get recharged 13 times in 12 months, and so on.
He said, "The common man benefited from raising this issue, but what loss did the Aam Aadmi Party suffer? Why would someone want to silence my voice? You people give me immense love, you encourage me, you will continue to hold my hand and support me. Don't let go. I am one of you, I am for you. To those who have taken away my right to speak in Parliament, I want to say that my silence should not be mistaken for my defeat. I am a river that becomes a flood when the time comes."
