Ram Bachchan Roy appointed as the Chairman of the Bihar Legislative Council

Senior Leader and former Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Council Dr. (Prof.) Ram Bachchan Rai was congratulated by Minister of Rural Development and Information and Public Relations Department and leader of JD Legislature Party Sharun Kumar on assuming the duties of the Working Chairman of Bihar Legislative Council. The Minister went to the Chairman's office on Tuesday and welcomed him and wished him well. On this occasion, Mr. Kumar said that Mr. Rambachan Roy comes from a very backward section of the society. He is the second person from this society to become the chairman of the Bihar Legislative Council, which has sent a wave of joy among the people. He said that Mr. Roy has vast experience in political, educational and legislative work. His appointment to this important position in the upper house is very important for the parliamentary life of Bihar.
Dr. Rai became a member of the Bihar Legislative Council from the Governor's quota in 2021. Earlier, he has held several important posts in the Legislative Council. In 2015, he was appointed as the Deputy Leader of the ruling party in the Legislative Council. He has been serving continuously as the Deputy Chairman of the Bihar Legislative Council since July 2024. During this extensive legislative experience, he has acquired a deep understanding of the proceedings of the House, parliamentary traditions and rules. Shri Ram Bachchan Roy is recognized not only as an experienced politician but also as an academic and literary scholar. He has served as Professor and Head of the Department of Hindi at Patna University. He has a long-standing commitment to literature and social thought.
Mr. Sharun Kumar said that under the leadership of Shri Roy, who has vast experience in higher education, literature and parliamentary work, the proceedings of the Legislative Council will take a new direction, and everyone will benefit from his vast experience. He expressed the confidence that he will play an important role in strengthening the dignity of the House, parliamentary decorum and democratic traditions. Shri Sharun Kumar heartily congratulated Shri Ram Bachchan Roy on his new charge and wished him a successful tenure. Meanwhile, Member of the Legislative Council Mr. Sanjay Kumar Singh aka Gandhiji, Member of the Legislative Council Mr. Virender Narayan Yadav and MLC Mr. Lilan Prasad were also present.
