Samiur Rehman's stormy batting leads Delhi to a glorious win over Mumbai

Samir Rizvi's (90) brilliant batting helped Delhi Capitals defeat Mumbai Indians by six wickets in the eighth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at their home ground on Saturday. This is Delhi Capitals' second consecutive win in the tournament.
Delhi Capitals, chasing a target of 163 runs, had a poor start and lost two wickets for just seven runs. KL Rahul (1) was caught behind off the fourth ball of the first over by Deepak Chahar.
In the next over, Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Nitesh Rana without scoring. Delhi Capitals' third wicket fell in the 10th over in the form of Pathum Nissanka, who was dismissed by Mitchell Santner. Pathum Nissanka scored 44 runs off 30 balls, hitting six fours and a six.
Samir Rizvi, who was heading towards a century, was dismissed by Cameron Green in the 17th over, ending his brilliant innings. Samir Rizvi and David Miller shared a match-winning partnership of 78 runs for the fourth wicket. Samir Rizvi scored 90 runs off 51 balls, hitting seven fours and seven sixes.
Delhi Capitals won the match by six wickets, scoring 164 runs for four wickets in 18.1 overs. David Miller remained not out on 21 runs off 18 balls, hitting the winning four.
Samir Rizvi's 90 runs is the third-highest score by any Delhi Capitals batsman against Mumbai Indians in the IPL. The seven sixes he hit are also the joint-most by any Delhi Capitals batsman against Mumbai Indians.
Earlier, Mumbai Indians had scored 162 runs for six wickets, thanks to the brilliant batting of captain Surya Kumar Yadav (51) and Rohit Sharma (35). Delhi Capitals had won the toss and decided to bowl first, which proved to be the right decision.
Mumbai had a poor start, losing Ryan Rickelton (9) and Tilak Varma (0) for a score of 17. Surya Kumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma then shared a partnership of 53 runs for the third wicket.
