Guidelines for ensuring quality and timeliness in construction work
The Bihar Government's flagship project to equip the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) with state-of-the-art and world-class medical facilities is progressing rapidly. On Tuesday, Health Secretary Mr. Kumar Ravi along with Special Secretary Mr. Arvind Verma and BMSICL Managing Director Mr. Subrat Kumar Sen inspected the PMCH campus site. During the inspection, the officers reviewed the under-construction buildings, various facilities and progress of ongoing work. During the inspection, the health secretary and officials inspected the new OPD, registration counter and medicine distribution center being constructed in the hospital. He inquired about the facilities to be provided and reviewed the progress of the construction work. The officials directed the representatives of construction agencies, L&T and BMSICL to complete the work on time as per the standards. After the inspection, a high-level review meeting was held on the hospital premises. The progress of the project was reviewed in detail. Representatives of L&T and BMSICL briefed the officials about the progress of various project projects. Secretary Health directed that quality, safety and timeliness should be given top priority in construction work. During the meeting, special emphasis was laid on ensuring 100% compliance with National Medical Commission (NMC) guidelines. In a meeting with all Heads of Departments (HODs), doctors and administrative officials at PMCMH, the Health Secretary said that PMCMH is the most prestigious medical institution in the state. Everyone has the responsibility to provide the best medical services, convenient facilities and sensitive treatment to the patients keeping in mind its reputation and dignity. During the review meeting, Mr. Arvind Verma, Special Secretary and in-charge of Ayushman Bharat Scheme, directed the doctors and officials concerned to ensure that the benefits of the scheme are extended to as many eligible and needy patients as possible. He said that this scheme is playing an important role in providing better treatment to economically backward patients. In the review meeting, Secretary Mr. Kumar Ravi issued important instructions to make medical services more efficient and streamlined. All doctors have been directed to be present in the hospital daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, as per National Medical Commission (NMC) standards, to ensure timely and better health care to patients. To strengthen emergency services, instructions have been given that doctors posted in units where emergency wards are functioning must make rounds of patients at least twice a day and check their condition. Instructions have been given to communicate with the Superintendent to ensure the availability of doctors in PMCH and to send requisitions of all vacancies to the department at the earliest, so that the shortage of doctors can be removed at the earliest.
