India's young batsman Vibhav Suryavanshi has made a significant leap in the ICC's latest T20 batting rankings, maintaining his impressive start to international cricket, while Ishan Kishan has regained his position as the world's number one T20 batsman. During India's 3-0 victory over Zimbabwe in the recent three-match T20 series in Harare, 15-year-old Suryavanshi scored 151 runs at an average of 50.33 and won the Player of the Series award for the first time. The impact of his impressive performance was also visible in the ICC's weekly rankings released on Wednesday.
Suryavanshi jumped 230 places to 48th in the T20 batting rankings, his career-best ranking. Although his 536 rating points are lower than those of his experienced teammates, his rapid rise has caught everyone's attention. On the other hand, left-handed batsman Ishan Kishan has regained the top spot in the T20 batting world rankings. After scoring 81 runs in the second match of the series against Zimbabwe, he achieved a career-best 916 rating points, the third-highest batting rating in T20 history. Only Abhishek Sharma (931 points) and England's David Malan (919 points) are ahead of him.
At the end of the series, Ishan Kishan's rating stood at 910 points, but he is still well ahead of second-placed Sahibzada Farhan (848 points). According to the ICC, Ishan Kishan has now earned a better career rating than India's successful batsmen Suryakumar Yadav (912 career rating) and Virat Kohli (909 career rating). Other Indian white-ball players have also made significant progress in the latest rankings. Tilak Varma has risen two places to sixth, while Shreyas Iyer has jumped seven places to 24th.
Among bowlers, Ravi Bishnoi has taken a 31-place leap to 41st in the T20 bowling world rankings after taking three wickets in the series against Zimbabwe.
