) Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India now firmly adheres to a "zero tolerance" policy against terrorism and that if terrorists dare to raise an eye towards India, they will be met with a befitting reply. Referring to the 2016 surgical strikes in the 138th episode of his monthly radio program "Mann Ki Baat" on Sunday, Mr Modi said that from the Balakot airstrike to Operation Sindoor, India has time and again clarified its policy against terrorism. Describing participation in the census as a national responsibility, he urged the citizens to enter correct information about themselves and their families. In his address, the Prime Minister also mentioned the birth centenary of late Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Ashok Singhal, legacy of Somnath and Modhera temples, cleanliness, environmental protection, drug addiction, discovery of sports skills, indigenous products, malnutrition and Ganesh Utsav. The Prime Minister said that on September 28-29, 2016, the Indian Army conducted a surgical strike against terrorist camps in Pakistan. Actions by Indian troops across the Line of Control set a new precedent for India's counter-terrorism policy. He said that India has been suffering from terrorist attacks for a long time. Referring to the serial blasts in Delhi on 13 September 2008 and the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai a few weeks later, he said that while there had been calls for action against Pakistan following previous terror attacks, they had not been given due attention. He said that today India is following the policy of zero tolerance against terrorism and its results are coming. Regarding the census, the prime minister said that its first phase has been almost completed in all states and union territories and information about more than 320 million families has been recorded. Work is also underway in remote and snow-covered areas of Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand. He said that more than 26 million people have already self-registered their information through mobile phones. The Prime Minister said that people can register themselves and their family information for the census using their mobile phones. This facility is available in 16 languages including Hindi. He said that accurate information helps to create a clear picture of the country's future. Mr. Modi today paid tributes to late Ashok Singhal on his 100th birth anniversary. He said Singhal dedicated his life to society and culture and gave direction and energy to the Ram Janmabhoomi movement. He also mentioned his efforts against social discrimination and inequality. Referring to the Surya temples of Somnath and Modhera, the Prime Minister said that the Modhera temple was attacked in 1026 and rebuilt by King Bhimdev I soon after. He added that Modhera has now become the first Surya village in the country and runs entirely on solar energy. Regarding cleanliness, the Prime Minister mentioned the ongoing awareness campaign for cleaning of rivers in Madhya Pradesh, cleaning of stepwells and wells in Andhra Pradesh, cleaning of beaches in Mumbai and waste segregation in Delhi. He said that it is a real tribute to Safai Bapu. Regarding environmental protection, he mentioned the return of elephants in Assam and efforts to save endangered small animals. He also described the mangrove forests being planted by women in the Sundarbans of West Bengal as an effort related to nature and livelihood. On the issue of getting rid of drug addiction, the Prime Minister said that under the "Drug Free Youth Campaign", lakhs of youth have pledged to stay away from drugs and create awareness among others. The campaign, spanning a total of 100 weeks, involves youth, schools, colleges, universities and social and spiritual organizations. Under this campaign, thousands of pledge ceremonies and awareness programs have been organized across the country. Mentioning efforts to discover and nurture sports talent, he highlighted the efforts of Rajinder Singh from Punjab. Referring to local businesses and women working in amla (Indian gooseberry) in Uttar Pradesh's Pratapgarh, he stressed the promotion of local products. Mentioning efforts against malnutrition, the Prime Minister highlighted efforts related to groundnut in Chhattisgarh, millet food competition in Gujarat, awareness campaign in Maharashtra and nutrition gardens in Mizoram. He also mentioned the digital connectivity of Anganwadi centers and registration of nearly nine crore beneficiaries. Referring to Ganesh Utsav, the Prime Minister said that devotion to Lord Ganesha is popular not only in India but also in other countries. He mentioned Ganesha traditions and museums in Thailand. He specifically mentions Ganesha devotees such as Pantheon Thirkhanun.
