Patna: (ABN) A grand ceremony was organized at Gyan Bhawan in Patna today to mark the foundation day of the National Jute Board and Jute Corporation of India Limited. The program was inaugurated jointly by Minister of Industries Dr. Dilip Kumar Jaiswal and Union Textile Minister Gajraj Singh by lighting the lamp.
On this occasion, in his address, the Hon'ble Minister of Industry said that the jute industry is emerging as a powerful means of sustainable development, in addition to being an integral part of India's traditional heritage. Particularly praising the 'Lakhpati Didi's (women who have achieved significant financial successes), he said that these women are not only playing a crucial role in the production of jute-based products but are also setting a shining example of economic empowerment and self-reliance in rural areas.
During the ceremony, 'Lakhpati Didi's who have shown excellent performance in the jute industry were awarded, thereby recognizing their contribution at the national level. This award not only serves as a recognition of their efforts but will also encourage other women to come forward and participate in this field.
A special book published jointly by the National Jute Board and Jute Corporation of India Limited was also launched during the ceremony. This publication provides a detailed overview of the current situation, potential, innovations, and socio-economic impacts of the jute industry.
Furthermore, an exhibition showcasing various products made from jute was organized in the premises of Gyan Bhawan, featuring an extensive range of attractive and useful items including handbags, home decor pieces, carry bags, and furnishing materials. Visiting the stalls, the dignitaries appreciated the quality, design, and innovative nature of the jute products on display.
The occasion was graced by the presence of several dignitaries including Smt. Amrit Raj, Development Commissioner (Handicraft), Ministry of Textiles; Smt. Padmani Singla, Joint Secretary; Shri Shashi Bhushan Singh, Secretary, National Jute Board; and Shri Sanjay Kumar Panigrahi, Managing Director, Jute Corporation of India Limited.
The purpose of the ceremony was to give a new identity to the jute industry, promote its use, and provide a platform for local artisans and entrepreneurs. The ceremony will not only facilitate innovation and investment in the jute sector but will also strengthen the goals of environmental protection and rural development.
