The Modi government has brought prosperity to tribal areas by eliminating left-wing extremism: Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the Naxal crisis in the country arose due to the geographical situation of tribal areas, the lack of government access to remote areas, and the neglect of development activities in these areas, and slowly the left-wing thinkers misled the tribals and took advantage of these weaknesses. Mr. Shah said, after the discussion on "efforts to free the country from left-wing extremism" under Rule 193 in the Lok Sabha, that this extremism could be ended only with the cooperation of the tribals, in which the role of our security forces is commendable. A large number of security personnel have been martyred for the country against this extremism, and the entire country always bows its head in front of them.

He said that illegal activities will not be allowed to flourish in the country, with this determination the Modi government has worked to eliminate Naxalism. The Modi government believes in development, and under it, the government has access to every corner of the country, and development work has been accelerated. The government is developing every village in tribal areas, and these development works have become the basis for the elimination of Naxalism.

He said that in some states, Naxalism was eliminated late because the party that was in power there did not allow it to be eliminated in Chhattisgarh, but when the BJP government was formed there, after assurance of full cooperation from the state government, they made an important announcement to eliminate Naxalism from the country by March 31, 2026.

He said that the motivation for this extremist ideology was not entirely correct, but the extremely dangerous "power is acquired through the gun" remained, which makes it clear that they never had faith in democracy. The question was why the Maoists chose the path, after decades of independence, the resources and income were low, so it was not possible to develop the entire country.

The states should have had access to remote areas, but there was organized discrimination, that's why terrorism spread there, and simple-minded tribals were misled and handed over weapons. Due to difficult geographical conditions and weak government grip, simple tribals were turned into Naxals. The Home Minister said that according to experts, the formation of the Red Corridor in 12 states and the spread of Naxal valleys are somewhere the result of the misuse of power.

He also asked how the Maoists got such modern weapons. He said that his government has cleaned up the system that attacks democratic foundations, and as a result, left-wing extremism has ended in the country today. He said, "I have come to tell the country today that the days of Maoists and Naxal violence are over. This is an ideological battle. The left-wing ideology has lost its basis, so it has been using tribals for its existence. Bloodshed has been their goal, but now their conspiracy will not succeed. Left-wing extremism has been eliminated from the country, and the rule of the Constitution prevails in the country, nothing can run parallel to it."

He said that the left-wing people have worked to weaken the Constitution and the judicial system. He said that he has said many times to lay down arms, but they do not lay down arms. The government has assured that it will protect them, but it has not been paid attention to. Instead, development is being hindered, and development activities are being set on fire and destroyed. Goods trains were set on fire, and simple people were misled to advance their ideology, which cannot be tolerated.
