Patna, 12 April (ABN) The Bihar government is taking a significant step towards making Anganwadi centers more clean, organized, and child-friendly. The ranking of cleanliness of all Anganwadi centers in the state will be released soon. This ranking process will thoroughly review around 113,000 Anganwadi centers across the state. During the ranking, points will be awarded based on key features such as cleanliness, toilet condition, handwashing facilities, drinking water quality, waste management, and a healthy environment for children. The purpose of the ranking is to improve the cleanliness situation in Anganwadi centers, reward and encourage the best centers, launch a special campaign to improve underperforming centers, link children's health, nutrition, and overall development to a clean environment, and hold Jeevika Didis, Anganwadi workers, and helpers accountable for maintaining cleanliness. This ranking will be done in collaboration with ICDS (Integrated Child Development Services), Jeevika, and Lohiya Swachh Bihar Abhiyan. Separate rankings will be prepared at the state, district, block, and cluster levels, which will increase competition and exchange of best practices. Earlier, Anganwadi centers in Bihar have been given more attention under schemes such as Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Nutrition Month, Handwashing Day, and Mission Shiksha Anganwadi. Now, the cleanliness ranking will further strengthen these efforts. Centers with high rankings will be developed as models. According to the department, this ranking will be done regularly every three months. This will not only provide children with a clean and safe environment but also give Jeevika Didis and Anganwadi workers additional benefits.
