Thousands of teacher aspirants protesting over the demand for the release of the exam advertisement have been booked by the police, which has taken strict action. An FIR has been registered against about five thousand unknown and four named individuals at the Gandhi Maidan police station, while four people, including student leader Dilip Kumar, have been arrested. According to the police, the protesters have been charged with disrupting law and order, causing traffic jams, and misbehaving with police personnel. The police are examining CCTV footage to identify other protesters and are interrogating several aspirants.
On the other hand, the protesting aspirants have accused the government of trying to suppress their voice. They say that instead of responding to the delay in the TRE 4 advertisement, the government is trying to intimidate the students by charging them with cases. According to the aspirants, the police brutally beat up the students during the protest.
The teacher aspirants claimed that the arrested student leaders, Dilip Kumar, Shahbaz, and two other aspirants, were kept at the police station all night and beaten up. They were later taken to the hospital, from where they are being prepared to be sent to jail.
The protesters say that lakhs of TRE 4 aspirants have been waiting for the recruitment advertisement for the past two years. According to them, the education department has been consistently assuring them that the advertisement will be released soon, but no progress has been made so far. The aspirants have accused the Bihar Public Service Commission and the education department of being unfair and delaying the process.
It is worth noting that on Friday, a protest march was taken out from Patna College demanding the release of the TRE 4 advertisement and changes in the BPSC rules. When the march reached JP Golambar, tensions rose between the police and the protesters, after which the police charged at them with batons. Several students were injured in the action.
