US President Donald Trump claimed on Thursday that the "Board of Peace" has reached a historic agreement for Hamas and all other armed groups in Gaza to disarm. According to him, under this agreement, Israeli forces will withdraw from Gaza in phases, and eventually, the administration of Gaza will be handed over to a new Palestinian administration. However, despite this announcement, no official confirmation of the agreement has been received from either Hamas or Israel.
President Trump stated in a statement released on his social media platform "Truth Social" that this agreement is a significant step forward in implementing his 20-point peace plan and a historic milestone towards establishing lasting peace and stability. He said that the process of disarming Hamas and all other armed groups in Gaza will be completed in different stages, and as this process progresses, the Israeli army will also withdraw from Gaza in phases.
He said that under this agreement, the administration of Gaza will eventually be handed over to a new Palestinian administration, which will work closely with the "Board of Peace" to serve the Palestinian people. He added that this plan will also provide Israel with the desired security, and Gaza will not be allowed to be used again as a base for terrorist attacks.
Trump further stated that the responsibility for maintaining peace and security in Gaza will be jointly borne by an international stabilization force and a new Palestinian police force, which will ensure the protection of citizens and neighboring countries.
The US President said that just a year ago, Gaza was plagued by severe war, severe humanitarian crisis, and hostage-taking, but now a historic breakthrough has been achieved, although much work remains to be done. He said that the danger that emerged from Gaza on October 7 will not be allowed to resurface.
He appreciated the efforts of the mediating countries, Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey, and thanked them, and also attributed the success to the tireless efforts of his team. Trump said that this is a breakthrough that many people did not think was possible.
However, despite this announcement, it is not clear whether Hamas and Israel are officially part of the agreement, as no official response has been received from either side.
On the other hand, according to Reuters, unusual progress has been made in talks between mediating countries and Hamas leaders in Cairo, but an Israeli official has described the proposed terms as unsatisfactory for Israel.
