War is in no one's interest: Iranian President

Awaz E Bihar•20 April 2026 at 03:21 pm•3 views•2 min read

Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian says war is in no one's interest. In a statement, he said that every rational and diplomatic path should be taken to reduce tensions. Masoud Pezeshkian says that mistrust of the enemy and being cautious in mutual relations is an undeniable necessity.

On the other hand, the head of the Iranian Parliament's National Security Committee, Ebrahim Azizi, says that we consider the current negotiations as a continuation of the battlefield, Iran has decided to continue negotiations with the United States. Talking to Qatari TV, he said that negotiations do not mean that talks should be held at any cost, negotiations do not mean that every method of the other party should be accepted.

Ebrahim Azizi says that Iran has set clear red lines that must be respected, Iran's negotiating strategy is based on complete national interests and security requirements.

Iranian Speaker of the Assembly Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said that Tehran is continuing negotiations with the United States, but is also ready to take "necessary measures" in view of possible new tensions.

According to the Iranian semi-official news agency Mehr News Agency, Ghalibaf said in a television interview that "we do not trust the enemy, they can violate the ceasefire at any moment." He said that "we are negotiating, but we are also ready to take necessary measures." He said that Iran has learned from the 12-day war that took place last June and is ready for any future confrontation.

Ghalibaf also said that the ongoing clash with the United States and Israel began during the negotiating process with "American deception". The statement came after the US Central Command confirmed in a post that the US Navy had "intercepted and neutralized" an Iranian-flagged cargo ship in the Gulf of Oman.
