West Bengal imposes strict rules ahead of Eid-al-Adha

Awaz E Bihar•14 May 2026 at 09:01 am•16 views•2 min read

Ahead of Eid-al-Adha, the West Bengal government has issued new guidelines related to animal sacrifice, creating a stir. The government has introduced a new rule for slaughtering animals, which everyone is being urged to follow. It is being said that this decision has been taken in light of a High Court order. According to the issued guidelines, it will no longer be allowed to slaughter animals in open spaces or any public place. The government has imposed several important conditions for slaughtering animals, which people will have to keep in mind while sacrificing animals on the occasion of Eid-al-Adha.

According to the guidelines issued by the government, a special certificate is mandatory for sacrificing cows, buffaloes, bulls, and calves. It has also been stated that before slaughtering an animal, a joint certificate must be obtained from the head of the municipality or panchayat committee and the government veterinary doctor. If any officer refuses to give this certificate, you can complain to the state government within 15 days.

According to the issued order, killing animals on the side of the road or any public place is completely prohibited. Sacrifice can only be done in slaughterhouses approved by the government. Violating the rules and slaughtering any animal can result in imprisonment of up to 6 months, a fine of up to Rs 1000, or both imprisonment and fine together.

Notably, after taking oath as the Chief Minister, Suvendu Adhikari has taken several major decisions. The launch of 'Annapurna Yojana' in Bengal has been announced from June 1. Along with this, Chief Minister Suvendu has clearly stated that there will be no more cut-money and syndicate in Bengal. To prevent corruption, the government will hold a joint meeting of district magistrates and MLAs every month. The government has also recommended a CBI probe into the Chandranath Rath murder case.
