Patna, September 1 (ABN). Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat for the central government's approval to set up a new campus of the National School of Drama (NSD) in Bihar. The chief minister said the decision would give a new identity and new possibilities to Bihar's rich theater and performing arts tradition at the national level.
The Chief Minister said that Bihar has a rich cultural heritage. It is the land of great personalities like Kalidas, Ramabarkash Benipuri and Bhikari Thakur. The state has a unique and rich tradition of folk theater and performing arts.
He said that establishment of NSD campus in Bihar will provide better institutional opportunities for professional theater training, stagecraft, performing arts and innovative research to the young artistes of the state. There will be less need for talented artistes to go outside the state for training and a better synergy will be created between Bihar's folk theater traditions and modern theatre.
The Chief Minister said that Bihar Government has established Bihar Sangeet Natya Academy for preservation, promotion and coordination of theatrical arts. The NSD campus will further strengthen the efforts of the state in this direction.
He said that the Bihar government is taking necessary action to provide suitable land for the NSD campus and bear 50 percent of the approved building cost. The State Government will provide all possible administrative support for the early establishment of the institution.
The Chief Minister said that the establishment of the NSD campus in Bihar is not just an institution but an investment in the future of the state's cultural heritage, young talent and modern theatre. He expressed confidence that with the concerted efforts of the Central and State Governments, this institute will further establish Bihar on the national theater map.
