Patna (ABN) Chief Minister and Chancellor of Bihar Engineering University, Patna, Mr. Samrat Choudhary inaugurated the third convocation ceremony of Bihar Engineering University, Patna by lighting the lamp at Gyan Bhawan located within the Samrat Ashok Convention Center campus. The Chief Minister awarded gold medals, certificates, and a check of Rs 50,001 to BTech and MTech students of the 2024-25 academic session. Students who secured first, second, and third positions were awarded gold, silver, and bronze medals and certificates of academic excellence.
Addressing the ceremony, the Chief Minister said that this convocation is not just a degree distribution ceremony, but an opportunity to lay a strong foundation for a bright future of Bihar. He expressed his best wishes for all students and said that instead of just seeking employment, they should become job creators so that more people can get employment. He said that Bihar is a unique state where technical education is being provided at a fee of just Rs 10 in engineering colleges and Rs 5 in polytechnic institutions in all 38 districts. Such a system is perhaps not found anywhere else in the world.
A true engineer's identity is not from their degree, but from their inventions, technical expertise, and constructive work for society. The 21st-century economy is based on knowledge, data, technology, and innovation. The state that is most developed in terms of education will become the economic leader. The Chief Minister said that Bihar's development and prosperity will happen only when its youth acquire knowledge through research, dialogue, and modern technology.
To revive Bihar's glorious educational heritage, the ancient Vikramshila University is being re-established, for which 220 acres of land have been made available to the central government. An MIT will be established in Muzaffarpur, and a university of artificial intelligence and computer science will be established in Bhagalpur. He said that Bihar is rapidly developing in the field of AI and emerging technology. Development will gain momentum through technology and innovation.
The Chief Minister requested the youth to give their suggestions in Bihar Tech. He said that technical education, startups, and digital development will give a new impetus to the state. Innovation and startups will help in the development of India and the prosperity of Bihar. The state government is continuously working to promote the youth.
During the program, the Chief Minister inaugurated the additional girls' hostel floor constructed at a cost of Rs 3.49 crore at Government Engineering College, Jamui, additional development work done at a cost of Rs 77.58 crore at Government Engineering College, Kishanganj, and a 300-bed additional girls' hostel building constructed at a cost of Rs 26.02 crore at Engineering College Supaul.
The Chief Minister also visited an exhibition organized by Bihar Engineering University. On the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Suresh Kant Verma, welcomed the Chief Minister by presenting him with a bouquet of plants and a memento. Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Vijendra Prasad Yadav, Science, Technology, and Technical Education Minister Mrs. Sheela Kumari, Education Minister Mr. Mithilesh Tiwari, Chief Minister's Principal Secretary Mr. Deepak Kumar, Chief Minister's Secretary Mr. Lokesh Kumar Singh, Science, Technology, and Technical Education Department Secretary Mr. Hemanshu Sharma, Bihar Engineering University Vice-Chancellor Professor Suresh Kant Verma, Registrar Dr. Pradeep Kumar, and a large number of professors and students of the engineering university were present.
