Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh stated that the true strength of any air force is not measured by its latest aircraft and systems, but by its operational readiness and its ability to take precise action with speed and confidence when required.
Speaking on Thursday at the 94th Air Force Day ceremony at Hindon Air Force Station in Ghaziabad, the Air Chief Marshal noted that ongoing conflicts in various parts of the world have made it clear that air power is a critical instrument for safeguarding national interests. He stated that the Indian Air Force understands its role and responsibilities and remains vigilant, determined, and prepared to handle any situation.
The Air Chief Marshal said, "Air power is a vital instrument for protecting national interests. The Indian Air Force is vigilant, determined, and ready to deal with any emergency." He emphasized that the air force's operational capability and readiness are progressing in the right direction.
The head of the air force had recently acknowledged in an annual press conference that the number of fighter aircraft in the air force's fleet is low. Without referring to that specific mention, he said today, "An air force may possess the world's most modern aircraft, but its real strength is measured by its operational readiness—how quickly and with how much confidence it can act when needed."
Referring to Operation Sindoor, he stated that the air force's rapid deployment in combat operations demonstrates its "combat capability as well as effective air defense operations." He emphasized that "Achook, Abhid, Satvik" is not merely a slogan, but the practical embodiment of their strength and firm resolve.
The Air Chief Marshal said that deep integration and coordination are essential for success in modern warfare, and continuous work is being done on joint planning and integrated combat capabilities with the Army and the Navy.
He also emphasized technological advancement and self-reliance. The Air Chief Marshal stated that self-reliance is a guiding principle of the air force. New technologies such as artificial intelligence and autonomous systems will be incorporated, but human control will remain central during this process. Describing the space domain as a natural extension of air boundaries, he also mentioned the increasing cooperation with ISRO and the domestic space industry in this sector.
The theme for this year's Air Force Day was "Bharatiya Vayu Sena: Achook, Abhid, Satvik." The event featured displays of fighter aircraft, helicopters, guided weapon systems, radars, and pilotless aerial systems (drones) for one-way attacks. The ceremony also included the presentation of medals to "Vayu Yudhau" for bravery and distinguished service, and commendation certificates to five units for outstanding performance.
