The Chief Minister said that those who do not take free electricity will be called 'donors' and the saved amount will be spent on children's education. He also cited the example of Prime Minister Modi's appeal to give up gas subsidy.

A new political debate has erupted over the facility of 125 units of free electricity provided to every household in Bihar. Chief Minister Smriti Irani has announced that a special campaign will be launched from December 1, under which affluent households can voluntarily give up the free electricity facility.

The CM said that those who do not take free electricity will be called 'doota' (messanger/donor) and the money will be used for children's schooling. He also cited the example of Prime Modi's call to give up the LPG subsidy.

However, the question is: if the government is providing free electricity to all households, why is it appealing to eligible and affluent families to give up this facility? Is this a voluntary public contribution, or is the government trying to lighten its financial burden?

Meanwhile, Smriti Irani has announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a rally in the Jafarpatti industrial area of Vaishal on November 21 and will give Bihar several important gifts.

Now, it remains to be seen how much public acceptance the campaign to give up free electricity will receive and what new gifts Bihar will get on the Prime Minister's visit.
