Renowned actor and filmmaker Nana Patekar passed away on Thursday morning due to a heart attack at his home in Goa. He was 75 years old. Mr. Patekar was found unconscious at home and was rushed to the hospital. Doctors attempted to revive him for approximately 45 minutes, but he did not respond. According to hospital sources, he was pronounced dead at 5:20 AM. Sources stated that his son, Milhar Patekar, who was in Pune, has departed for Goa. Dr. Shekhar Salunkhe, head of the oncology department at Manipal Hospital, said that doctors continued efforts to restore his heartbeat for 45 minutes, but his pulse did not return during medical assistance, and he remained in a state of cardiac arrest. Dr. Salunkhe stated, "Despite continuous efforts to restore his heartbeat for 45 minutes, he could not be saved. A medico-legal case has been registered, and an autopsy will be conducted."

Born on January 1, 1951, in Maharashtra, Mr. Patekar completed a film career spanning nearly five decades and established himself as one of the most prominent actors in Indian cinema. He was renowned for his impactful dialogue delivery and his exceptional portrayal of challenging roles. He launched his film career in 1978 with the movie "Gaman" and delivered outstanding performances in films such as "Pandra," "Woh," "Yashwant," "Ab Tak Chhapne," "Apharan," "Raj Niti," and "Natya Samrat." Patekar worked successfully in both serious cinema and commercial films. His portrayal of gangster Aditya Shetty in the 2007 release "Welcome" was immensely popular with audiences. He reprised the same role in "Welcome Back" in 2015. His other notable commercial films include "Shakti: The Power," "Taxi No. 9211," and "Housefull 5." A three-time National Film Award winner, Patekar was also honored with the Padma Shri in 2013 for his services to cinema and the arts. He won the Filmfare Award for Best Actor in 2016 for his performance in the Marathi film "Natya Samrat." In addition to acting, Mr. Patekar directed films and lent his voice as a playback singer in movies such as "Yashwant," "Woh," and "Aach." With his passing, Indian cinema has lost a highly unique artist whose film career served as a bridge between parallel cinema, Marathi theater, and mainstream Hindi films.
