IMPEC's "Intellectual Meet" in Patna, emphasis on action plan for future of Muslims. Discussion on issues of education, endowment, religious identity and Muslim women
Patna: (Press Release) An "Intellectual Meet" was organized in Patna under the auspices of Impec, presided over by former Member of Parliament Maulana Ubaidullah Khan Azmi. In the meeting, serious consideration was given to the current social, political, economic and religious situation of Muslims, the future of the new generation, educational backwardness and economic problems. Various political and national leaders, intellectuals and social activists attended and emphasized the need for collective and practical steps to tackle the challenges facing the nation. In the presidential address, Maulana Obaidullah Khan Azmi said that Indian Muslims are passing through a very critical and challenging period of history. In various parts of the country, issues related to minority rights, religious identity, mosques, awqaf and Muslim personal law are constantly being discussed. He said that in the current situation, Muslims have to decide their own clear plan of action for their future, because only complaints, slogans and processions will not solve the problems. Referring to the disputes related to mosques and Muslim religious identity, he said that places of worship are a part of the history, civilization and religious identity of Muslims. Similarly, he called the endowment properties as the collective trust of the nation and said their protection is an important responsibility. Regarding the Uniform Civil Code, Maulana Azmi said that the Constitution of India guarantees religious freedom to all citizens of the country and Muslims should take constitutional and legal means to protect their family and religious affairs. Maulana Azmi expressed concern over the educational and economic backwardness of the nation and said that the main purpose of establishing IMPEC is to make the new generation educated, efficient and talented. He said that education has to be given top priority in order to lift the youth of the nation from the quagmire of backwardness. He appealed to Muslims to plan their future systematically instead of reacting emotionally. Without education, any nation in the world can neither protect its rights nor join the race of development. IMPEC's services and vision in the field of education is outstanding, unparalleled and proud. Especially those Muslim youth and children who have dropped out of schools and colleges due to the irony of the situation, IMPEC is working day and night to re-engage them with education and give them skills. Dr. Asma Zahra said that IMPEC has been established with the spirit of sympathy and grief of Muslims. In the current difficult situation, collective efforts are needed to get Muslims out of trouble. He said that mere sloganeering and processions are not enough anymore, but serious analysis of the problems must be done and practical solutions should be found. He emphasized the need to pay attention to the problems faced by Muslim women. Referring to the situation in Assam, Aminul Islam said that even after the NRC, Muslims are facing various problems there. Expressing concern over the detention of people in detention centers and issues related to citizenship, he said that legal struggle is necessary to take the situation in Assam seriously and resolve the problems of the people affected there. Referring to the situation in Uttar Pradesh, Iram Rabbani said that the attacks on Muslim homes and other properties, as well as disputes over mosques and tombs, have raised concerns. He said that in the current situation, Muslims have to wake up and organize for their constitutional rights and legal protection. Dr. Aftab Alam said that in the current critical situation, Muslims need to unite and work to protect their rights and future. He emphasized on making Impact's platform a tool for effective collective efforts in this regard. Former Minister of Maharashtra and All India Vice President of IMPEC, Dr. Anees Ahmed said that the path to the development of the nation is through education. We have to plan systematically to produce lawyers, doctors, engineers, IAS and experts in various fields along with imparting quality education to the new generation. He said that despite the establishment of several colleges and universities in Bihar, the problem of dropouts still exists, which needs immediate attention. He termed the elimination of educational backwardness as a common challenge of the entire nation. Convenor of the program and former Member of Assembly Dr. Izhar Ahmed said that the land of Bihar has always been fertile in terms of knowledge and culture. He expressed hope that under the umbrella of IMPEC, effective and fruitful steps will be taken to remove the educational and economic backwardness of Muslims. IMPEC will be expanded in Bihar. Various political and national leaders, intellectuals and social activists participated in the meeting and emphasized the need for joint struggle for educational, economic and social development of Muslims.
