In pursuit of the 199-run target, Bangladesh had a disappointing start, losing two wickets for just 21 runs. Saif Hassan (8) and Soumya Sarkar (8) returned to the pavilion early, but then Tanzid Hasan and Najmul Hossain Shanto did not let the Kiwi bowlers settle.
Tanzid Hasan played a blistering innings of 76 runs off just 58 balls, including 10 fours and four sixes. He shared a decisive partnership of 120 runs for the third wicket with Shanto.
