Patna, April 19 (ABN) Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said on Sunday that the 'Bapu Tower' built in Gandhi Maidan is a living testament to the permanent legacy and memorials of Mahatma Gandhi. The Chief Minister visited Bapu Tower in Gandhi Maidan today. He inspected various galleries from the ground floor to the fifth floor of the tower and got detailed information about the exhibits and arrangements there.
Upon arriving at Bapu Tower, the Chief Minister paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi by offering flowers to his statue installed there. On this occasion, he said that Bapu Tower has been built very magnificently, which is also a sight to behold and useful for the people. The new generation and people coming from other parts of the country will be able to understand Bapu's biography, his ideas, and his principles in a better way by visiting here. Historical events related to Bapu's life, Gandhi's thoughts, his role in the freedom movement, his connection to Bihar, and his ideal principles have been showcased in the best possible way here.
The Chief Minister directed the authorities to further promote tree plantation and greenery in the Bapu Tower complex and its surroundings. During his visit, Mr. Choudhary also reviewed the 'Turn Table Theater Show' in the Orientation Hall built on the ground floor. During the inspection of the building's different floors and five ramps, the Secretary of the Building Construction Department, Kumar Ravi, briefed the Chief Minister about Gandhi's life, memorials, cutouts, screen projectors, and other exhibits in detail.
The Secretary of the Building Construction Department, Mr. Ravi, informed that school children and groups visiting Bapu Tower are allowed free entry without any fee. The Chief Minister inspected the auditorium, waiting room, lounge, gallery built to popularize Bapu's ideas, research center, visitor facilities, and other structures during his visit. He also witnessed various digital exhibits. The books 'Bapu Ki Pati' and 'Mohandas to Mahatma' prepared by the Education Department for reading in all schools have also been presented in digital form for the convenience of children, which was reviewed by the Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister directed the authorities to include Bapu Tower, Bihar Museum, Patna Museum, and Science City in the educational tour program for school children. He directed the Secretary of the Building Construction Department to coordinate with the Tourism Department and the Department of Art and Culture to ensure the convenience of more people visiting Bapu Tower, so that people can know about Bapu's works, thoughts, and principles in a better way.
The Chief Minister also watched a film based on Bapu's biography, his principles and works, and the glorious history of Bihar. Mr. Choudhary inaugurated the publication of the magazine 'Satyagraha - Bapu Tower'. He said that it should also be digitized so that common people can easily benefit from it.
Notably, Bapu Tower has been built in the 'G+6' style, which has two main parts: a rectangular building and a conical building. The rectangular building includes three exhibition galleries, an auditorium, a temporary exhibition hall, offices, a waiting room, a museum shop, and a cafeteria, where the first gallery tells the story of Mahatma Gandhi's early life, stay in London and South Africa, and return to India.
The conical building, 102 feet tall, makes Bapu Tower very attractive and magnificent, with Mahatma Gandhi's silhouette engraved on its outer surface, while five ramps have been built inside the building, where different phases of Gandhi's life have been presented in sequence. The first ramp (from the fifth to the fourth floor) shows the story of the Champaran Satyagraha and his arrival in Bihar.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister's Secretary Kumar Ravi, Special Officer of the Home Department Sanjay Kumar Singh, Dr. Gopal Singh, District Magistrate Dr. Thyagarajan SM, Senior SP Kartikeya K Sharma, and Director of Bapu Tower, among other senior officials, were present.
