Minister of Construction Engineer Kumar Shailendra meets Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, positive assurance on several major highway projects New Delhi, August 6: In a significant move to give a new impetus to Bihar's highway development, the state's Minister of Construction Engineer Kumar Shailendra met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari at Parliament House, New Delhi. On this occasion, there was a detailed discussion on several major national highway projects, bridges, and connecting roads related to the state, while the Union Minister gave a positive assurance after considering all the proposals seriously. The meeting discussed the construction of a parallel temporary pontoon bridge to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow during the reconstruction of the Vikramshila Setu, the expansion of the Muzaffarpur-Bhagwanpur National Highway (NH-122) to four lanes, the Muzaffarpur Eastern Bypass, the construction of a four-lane NH-139 from Nawabpur to the Jharkhand border, pending projects related to NH-333 and NH-333A, and the construction of a safe and easy Kanwariya Path for devotees from Hajipur to Muzaffarpur. In addition, proposals were also presented to the Union Minister to connect the villages of Behea-Pur-Full Kosi Bridge, Govindpur, Mushari, and Kaharpur through an approach ramp, to complete the Bhagalpur-Baldur (NH-133E) project at a rapid pace, and to build an elevated road on the northern bank of the Ganges River from Hajipur's Paswan Chowk to Bidupur. The Minister of Construction also appealed for early approval of new highway schemes in Bihar under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund. Engineer Kumar Shailendra said that the completion of these projects will further strengthen Bihar's inter-state and regional connectivity, reduce travel time, increase road safety, and give a new impetus to trade, agriculture, industry, education, health, and tourism. He said that the strengthening of infrastructure is the foundation of the state's economic development and the government is working seriously in this direction. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari assured positive action on all projects, terming them important, and said that he would soon visit Bihar to personally inspect the proposed projects and related sites. The Minister of Construction expressed hope that under the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a developed India and the joint cooperation of the Center and the state under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Bihar's highway infrastructure will become more robust and the state's development will get a new dimension.
