Crackdown preparations complete in Patna, action against violations from May 2

Patna, April 30 (ABN) Under the direction of District Magistrate (DM) Patna Dr. Tyag Rajan SM, the anti-encroachment drive will be resumed in the city from May 02. District Magistrate and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) have formed nine teams for the drive. This will be a special campaign which will be conducted in six constituencies of Patna Municipal Corporation Nutan Rajdhani, Patliputra, Kankarbagh, Bankipur, Azimabad, Patna City as well as Nagar Parishad Khagol, Phalwari Sharif and Danapur Nizamat. Officers and officials of various departments will be involved. The District Magistrate has made it clear that the removal of encroachments from the public places of the city is being carried out continuously and regularly keeping in mind the public interest. He said that the aim of this campaign is not only to empty the roads and public places but also to improve and organize the urban system. He directed the officials of the Urban Management Unit to issue an advance calendar every month for the removal of encroachments so that the process can be done in an orderly manner. At the same time, emphasis was placed on keeping the follow-up teams active so that encroachments once removed could not be established again. Dr. Tyag Rajan gave special importance to the flow of traffic and said that important highways should be kept clean on a priority basis. According to him, this initiative will improve the traffic system and facilitate the movement of citizens, while the chances of repeated encroachments will also be reduced. Several important areas have been selected under this campaign, including Nehru Path (Bailey Road), Signa Mor to Danapur Railway Station, Sheikhpura Mor to Ruknapura, Boring Road and Boring Canal Road, Atal Path and Patna Station Road, Kangur Bagh Main Road and Tempo Stand area, Gandhi Maidan vicinity and Gandhi Maidan to Digha and Patna City. Finally, the District Magistrate also clarified that apart from the days fixed for the campaign, the concerned local bodies will continue to take action on a daily basis to permanently control the encroachment problem in the city. The District Magistrate said that the removal of encroachments is very important keeping in mind the convenience of the common people. He directed that JP Ganga Path, Nehru Path, Atal Path, Chitkohra Bridge, Vikas Bhavan, Dak Bangla Crossroads, Goriya Toli to GPO, Patna Junction, Chidia Tanar Bridge, Rajapur Bridge, Raja Bazar, Kargil Chowk to NIT, Kankarbagh Road, Anisabad and Signa Mor should be 'completely encroached'. Besides, he emphasized the need to keep all important roads like Harmandar Sahib Gurdwara, Bal Leela Gurdwara, Kangan Ghat, Guru Ke Bagh areas including Morcha Road, famous Ganj Mor to Mall Salami, Didarjung Thana, Ashok Raj Path and Rajendra Nagar Terminal clean in public interest. Magistrates and police officers along with women force have been deployed in each team formed under the direction of Mr. Tyag Rajan. The services of executive officers, city managers, chief sanitary inspectors and videographers have been hired from local bodies. This campaign will continue till May 30. The campaign will be reviewed on a daily basis and further action will be taken based on the results. The District Magistrate, emphasizing on the beauty of the city along with the removal of encroachments, has directed that the vacated places should be planted with trees and beautified in a better way. He said that this initiative will not only improve the environment but also increase the overall beauty of the city. They have mandated videography to ensure transparency in the proceedings, so that a record of every step is preserved and can be investigated in case of any complaint. Additionally, the local bodies have been empowered to impose fines. According to the guidelines, a fine of Rs 5,000 will be imposed for temporary encroachments and up to Rs 20,000 in case of permanent encroachments or constructions, so that strict action can be taken against violators. The District Magistrate has also asked the Superintendent of Police to ensure through the concerned police stations that the encroachments are not re-established and the traffic system is not affected. For this purpose, follow-up teams will work continuously under the supervision of SDO and SDPO. If a place is reoccupied after removal of encroachments, an FIR will be mandatorily lodged against the responsible persons.
