Patna, Sep 16: (ABN) Amid the dire situation caused by the floods, the state government has hoped for maximum assistance from the Centre. Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary and Union Minister for Agriculture, Farmers Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan held a high-level review meeting held at 'Sankalp' Sabhagar on Wednesday to review the flood damage, relief and rescue works and the future measures. This year, 5 million people have been affected by floods in 88 blocks of about 15 districts. The government ran more than 1,000 community kitchens to provide relief to the victims, providing food to around 1.62 million people. Basic facilities were also provided to the victims in the relief camps. The chief minister said that a complete assessment of the flood damage will be completed before Durga Puja and a detailed report will be sent to the central government. He said that Bihar suffers from the disaster of floods every year, so instead of just temporary relief, serious measures are necessary for a permanent solution to the floods. Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan while appreciating the relief and rescue measures taken by the Bihar government during the floods said that the state has set an example in the field of flood relief. He said that along with the basic infrastructure, the crops have also been severely damaged by the floods. Various crops including banana, maize, paddy have been affected. Talking about providing better quality seeds to the farmers, the Union Minister said that work will be done to supply high quality seeds of crops like banana, maize and litchi, so that the quality of production is improved, the income of farmers increases and the chances of agricultural products accessing the foreign market increase. assured to provide support and provide quality seeds to farmers. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be apprised of the needs of Bihar and the damage caused by floods and necessary action will be taken to provide maximum possible support to the state. In the review meeting, Chief Secretary Pratiya Amrit presented the details of the overall situation of Flood 2026. Senior officers of various departments gave a presentation on the damage and relief measures in the flood-affected infrastructure, agriculture, power, health, water supply, water resources, animal husbandry and other sectors. The Chief Minister welcomed the aerial survey and ground assessment of the flood-affected areas by the Union Minister and the central team, saying that it would help in understanding the ground situation and presenting an accurate estimate of the damage to the Centre.
