The central government has made a significant decision regarding the supply of commercial LPG gas in the country, increasing the quota given to states by almost 50 percent, which is expected to bring great relief to hotels, restaurants, dhabas, and various industries.
The Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dr. Narej Mittal, has informed all state chief secretaries about this decision through a letter, while District Collector Kishor Javale said that the additional quota will be implemented as per the state government's instructions.
Under the new policy, the 20 percent quota previously allocated to states was first revised with a 10 percent increase, and now with an additional 20 percent increase, the total supply of commercial LPG has reached almost 50 percent.
The decision will benefit hotels, restaurants, dhabas, industrial canteens, food processing units, dairy businesses, and government-aided food centers the most. Along with this, the supply of 5 kg FTCL cylinders available to migrant workers has also been prioritized.
The government has also set certain conditions to take advantage of this facility, under which registration with the relevant oil companies will be mandatory for all commercial and industrial consumers, and an attempt will be made to prevent misuse of gas by registering annual consumption and business details.
In areas where piped gas (PNG) facilities are available, consumers have been directed to apply for PNG. It is hoped that this decision will reduce the shortage of fuel in the commercial sector and provide significant support to the industry and services sector.
