Flood risk in Bihar, Ministers and Secretaries in 13 districts tasked with monitoring

Patna. In view of the flood situation in Bihar, the state government has tightened administrative supervision. Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary has assigned the responsibility of special monitoring to ministers and secretaries in 13 flood-affected districts. He has been directed to remain in the affected areas to assess the situation, maintain coordination with the district administration and speed up relief and rescue operations. The Chief Minister conducted an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas on Thursday. During the aerial survey, he observed the flood situation and spread of water in different areas. After reaching Bhagalpur, he reviewed the ongoing relief and rescue operations at the ground level. Information was taken from the officers about the affected areas, relief activities and rescue preparations. Meanwhile, high alert is on in Patna after the water level of Ganga river has crossed the danger mark. The constant rise in the water level has increased the concern of the administration. A rise of 10 cm in the water level of the Ganges was also recorded at Gandhi Ghat in just four hours. In view of the rapid rise in the water level, special monitoring is being done in the river banks and low-lying areas. The administration has been instructed to keep relief and rescue resources ready and to take immediate action if necessary to deal with the possible flood situation. In view of the flood situation, the DM and SP of all the districts have also been alerted. District officers have been asked to continuously monitor water levels, sensitive spots and low-lying areas in their areas. In case of any emergency, relief and rescue work should be started immediately and the higher authorities should be informed about the situation. The Chief Minister has directed the ministers and officers posted in the affected districts to monitor the situation at the ground level and there should be no delay in providing relief to the affected people. The government's priority is immediate relief in affected areas, evacuation to safe places and effective rescue measures.
