From August 17, 4 more minority residential schools will ring the bell of knowledge

Patna (ABN): The Bihar government has taken a significant step towards connecting minority students with standard, modern, and competitive education. Educational activities will commence in four more minority residential schools in the state from August 17. The construction of school buildings has been completed in Jamui, Nalanda, Kaimur, and Muzaffarpur. These schools will provide students with residential facilities, standard education, and opportunities to prepare for competitive exams.
Minority Welfare Minister Mohammad Zamaan Khan said that the government's objective is to establish a minority residential school in every district of the state. Currently, the construction of such schools has been approved in 24 districts. After the commencement of classes in the four new schools from August 17, educational opportunities for minority children in the state will expand further.
According to the department, the construction of minority residential schools has been approved in 24 districts, including Purnia, Madhubani, Gaya, Jamui, Nalanda, Kaimur, Katihar, Begusarai, West Champaran, Supaul, Muzaffarpur, Madhepura, Patna, Saharsa, Munger, Siwan, East Champaran, Bhagalpur, Araria, Gopalganj, Rohtas, and Buxar.
In Jamui, Nalanda, Kaimur, and Muzaffarpur, the construction work has been completed, and preparations for commencing educational activities have been finalized. Initially, educational activities will be conducted through camps in Jamui and Kaimur.
To address the shortage of teachers in minority residential schools, the government has decided to recruit 288 teachers through TRE-4. The minister informed that a requisition has been sent to the Bihar Public Service Commission in this regard. Currently, approval has been obtained for 481 teaching and non-teaching positions in 13 minority residential schools. Additionally, a request has been sent to the commission for the recruitment of one District Welfare Officer and 459 Block Minority Welfare Officers through the 71st BPSC exam.
The department will now focus on preparing students for competitive exams like JEE, NEET, BPSC, and others, in addition to providing traditional school education. Online classes and coaching facilities will be provided soon. The minister said that the coaching program is being made more effective to promote minority students in higher education and competitive exams.
The results of the state coaching scheme have been encouraging, with 20 candidates clearing JEE and 38 candidates clearing NEET this year. In the matric and intermediate exams of minority residential schools, approximately 90% of students have secured first division. Five students from the Kishanganj Minority Residential School have made the school and department proud by securing top positions in the district.
Minority Welfare Minister Mohammad Zamaan Khan said that the government's objective is to connect madrasa students with modern education and employment opportunities. To achieve this, madrasa students will be linked with skill development programs. These training programs will be conducted in collaboration with the National Small Industries Corporation Limited, a government of India undertaking. Through this, students will be provided with practical training in various fields to offer better employment and self-employment opportunities.
The minister informed that in the financial year 2025-26, 2526 Hajj pilgrims from Bihar undertook the journey, while 3637 applications have been received so far for the financial year 2026-27.
Under the Chief Minister Entrepreneur Scheme, 1247 beneficiaries were provided with a loan of Rs 100 crore in the financial year 2025-26. So far, a total of 3741 beneficiaries have been provided with a loan of Rs 270 crore.
The minister said that the objective of minority welfare is not just to increase the number of schools but to connect minority youth with education, skills, competitive exams, and employment opportunities, thereby bringing them into the mainstream of development.
On this occasion, the department's Secretary Mohammad Suhail, Special Secretary cum Director Dr. Amer Afzaal Ahmed Faizi, Additional Secretary Abrar Ahmed Khan, and other departmental officers were present.
