High-level review of road projects, direction to expedite work

PATNA: A high-level review meeting was held today at Vishweshwarya Bhawan under the chairmanship of Road Construction Minister Engineer Kumar Shilander, in which the detailed progress of road, bridge and railway overbridge (ROB) projects under Bhagalpur Commissionerate under Road Divisions, National Highway Divisions, Bihar State Bridge Construction Corporation Limited (BRPNNL) and Bihar State Road Development Corporation Limited (BSRDCL) was reviewed.
BRPNNL Chairman Dharminder Kumar, Chief Engineer, Chief General Manager of Bihar State Road Development Corporation, Managing Director of BRPNNL along with concerned Superintending Engineer and Executive Engineer were present in the meeting.
During the review, the progress of various projects including widening and strengthening of Bhagalpur-Amarpur-Banka (SH-25), four-laning of Sultanganj-Tarapur-Belhar-Katoria-Dardmara (SH-22), Bhagalpur-Kahalgaon-Mirzahachoki (NH-80) and NH-333A road under Katoria, Lakhpura, Banka and Panjwara bypass were reviewed.
Bridge and ROB projects include ROB on Bhagalpur-Bonsi railway line, ROB on SM College-Marzan Hot Road, H.L. on Orhani river. RCC bridge, four lane H.L. on Sukhania river. The current status of other projects including RCC Major Bridge and Sultanganj-Agwani Ghat Ganga Bridge was also reviewed.
The minister directed to complete the work within the stipulated period while maintaining quality in all the projects. He emphasized on speeding up the projects by removing the pending works and obstacles immediately. In particular, instructions were given to complete the land acquisition process soon and proceed with the construction work.
In the meeting, it was directed to establish effective coordination with the concerned departments to deal with pending matters related to land acquisition, GAD/NOC approval from Railways, Forest Department clearance and utility shifting from Electricity Department on priority basis.
Meanwhile, the present situation of Monger (Safiabad)-Bariarpur-Ghorghat-Sultanganj Ganga Path and Sultanganj-Bhagalpur-Sabur Ganga Path was also reviewed. The minister directed to speed up other technical operations including land acquisition, forest and environmental clearance.
More than 95% of the 47.815 km of road rehabilitation and widening of two lanes with paved shoulder has been completed in the Bhagalpur-Kahalgaon-Mirzahachoki section of NH-80. There, instructions were given to complete the land acquisition process for the 7.052 km Amarpur bypass soon and complete the rest of the construction work.
Minister Engineer Kumar Shilandar made it clear that the quality of road, bridge and ROB construction will not be compromised under any circumstances and officers will have to ensure constant monitoring and speedy implementation to complete all the projects within the set target.
