In case of fake license sale of bacillary packaged drinking water, thousands of bottles seized

To provide safe and quality food to the general public in the state, the health department is continuously inspecting food establishments, collecting food samples and conducting laboratory tests. Food safety teams are inspecting compliance of food quality, hygiene, safe storage and food safety standards in various districts on the instructions of Health Secretary and Food Safety Commissioner Mr. Kumar Ravi. Based on a complaint received on 28 September 2026 on the instructions of Food Security Commissioner Bihar, Mr. Kumar Ravi, a raid was conducted at M/s ABS Industries, Shahullahpur, Hajipur, Vaishali District. During the inspection, FSSAI central license was found with this institution, but a separate FSSAL license number was found on the bottles manufactured and sold under the name of Beseleri Packaged Drinking Water, which is said to be fake in the report. During inspection, bottled water of 1 liter, 500 ml, and 2 liter capacity bottles were found for sale. The label of the bottles bore the manufacturer's name M/s Sahil Enterprises. While the license of the concerned institution was not provided for the said trade. Batch number (B.No.) was also not recorded in some bottles. As part of the operation, 35,454 bottles collected in the company were confiscated. were confiscated. The seized water samples have been sent to the food laboratory for quality testing. The concerned company has been directed to submit necessary documents related to the distribution of Bacillary Packaged Drinking Water within three days. A letter is also being written to the Central Licensing Authority in this matter. More than 765 food samples from different food categories have been obtained under the special campaign for promotion of food safety and public health. These include samples from milk and milk products, sweets, cereals and pulses, condiments and sauces, beverages, edible oils, street food, bakery and other food categories. The Food Safety Department has made it clear that inspection and sampling of food establishments will continue in view of the upcoming festivals. Special emphasis is being laid on food quality, hygiene, proper storage and compliance with FSSAI norms.
