The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, attended the first convocation of the Central Tribal University of Andhra Pradesh in Vizianagaram. Ms. Murmu appealed to tribal universities to emerge as centers of leadership and policy-making among communities and play a crucial role in their education, employment, and overall development.
Addressing the occasion, the President of India said that the Central Tribal University of Andhra Pradesh has several special responsibilities. She expressed confidence that in the years to come, this university will make meaningful efforts not only for the overall development of backward and tribal youth but also for the overall development of the region. The President of India said that all universities, especially tribal universities, should establish such modern and innovative systems that bring improvement in the employment of tribal people and promote result-oriented work in areas like forest produce, handicrafts, millets, medicinal plants, eco-tourism, and local businesses.

The President of India said that in our rapidly developing country, there is a need to take the benefits of modern science to every section of society while remaining connected to our cultural heritage.
She said that with this objective, the university is running a 'Science and Technology Hub' to empower tribal communities in north Andhra Pradesh. She further said that the university has focused on areas like tribal welfare, public health, climate change, food security, and energy conservation at both academic and grassroots levels.
She expressed confidence that all these aspects will play an important role in building a just and developed India. The President of India said that our goal is to build a developed India by 2047. She expressed confidence that the Central Tribal University of Andhra Pradesh will play a crucial role in achieving this goal through its meaningful, comprehensive, and practical teaching strategy, which also focuses on environmental protection.
She hoped that by connecting tribal communities with the beneficial aspects of modern education, local youth will be able to play an effective role in the just development of the country.
