Iran has launched dozens of missiles in a retaliatory operation after intense attacks by Israel and the US. According to reports, Iran has fired approximately 70 ballistic missiles towards Israel, prompting sirens to sound in Tel Aviv. The Israeli military, IDF, has confirmed this. The Israeli army says it has identified ballistic missiles launched from Iran towards Israel, and the entire country has been put on high alert.
The Israeli cities reportedly targeted by Iranian missiles include Jerusalem, Haifa, and Safed. Sirens are sounding in Jerusalem, with people being directed to seek shelter. Media reports suggest Iran has sent a second batch of missiles towards Israel, which Israel is working to intercept with its full capacity.
The Iranian army, IRGC, has provided information about the attack, stating that the first wave of drone-missile attacks on Israel has just been completed. However, the IRGC has not made any claims about the damage inflicted. Some media reports indicate that multiple explosions have been heard in northern Israel. Israel has activated its anti-missile defense system and declared a nationwide emergency and special state of emergency.
Israel's Magen David Adom ambulance service has also confirmed the Iranian attack, stating that there are no reports of injuries from the ballistic missile attacks in northern Israel. At least two missiles were fired, with one reportedly landing in an open area. Meanwhile, the IDF has confirmed detecting another launch of ballistic missiles from Iran.
Notably, the Iranian attack on Israel appears to be intense, as both the Houthis and Hezbollah have also opened their fronts. This suggests the Iran-Israel war is entering a new phase. Prior to this, the US and Israel had jointly launched around 30 missiles at several Iranian cities, targeting Iran's nuclear centers, as well as Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who are both reported to be safe. Israel has named this operation "Shield of Judah".
