Patna, August 8 (ABN) The state government has taken another major step towards the development of infrastructure and smooth traffic in Bihar. The Road Construction Department has given administrative approval for the construction of two new RCC bridges on the Khehra-Sono Road (NH-333A) in Jamui district at a total cost of Rs 14978.41 lakh (approximately Rs 149.78 crore). Department officials say this move will completely transform the region's decades-old dilapidated traffic system, bringing new hope for local people and the state's economic landscape.
The first major project relates to the old and dilapidated bridge over the Kewal River on NH-333A at the 72nd kilometer of the Khehra-Sono Road in Jamui district. A large and modern RCC bridge of size (16 x 29.85 meters) will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 9382.29 lakh. Meanwhile, a second bridge of size (9 x 29.85 meters) will be built at a cost of Rs 5596.12 lakh near Mango Bandar at the 80th kilometer of the same road, replacing the old dilapidated bridge over the Suknar River.
Pankaj Kumar Pal, Secretary of the Road Construction Department, said that the construction of these two bridges will directly benefit the villagers, traders, and passengers of dozens of villages in the Khehra and Sono blocks. He said that until now, the old and dilapidated bridges over the Kewal and Suknar rivers had posed a risk of accidents during monsoons and normal days, and the movement of heavy vehicles was severely affected. With the construction of new bridges, not only will traffic become completely safe and uninterrupted, but there will also be significant savings in travel time and fuel.
Secretary Pal informed that NH-333A is not only important for Jamui but also a key link road connecting Bihar to the neighboring state of Jharkhand. The new bridges over the Kewal and Suknar rivers will accelerate trade and transportation between Jamui, Munger, Lakhisarai, and Banka districts.
The Secretary said that after the construction of the two bridges on NH-333A, ambulances and patients will be able to reach the district hospital or major medical centers quickly and easily in emergency situations. Additionally, local farmers and small traders will be able to transport their produce (grains, vegetables, milk) to nearby markets and urban markets without any obstacles, resulting in increased income. He said that the construction of bridges will create new trade opportunities and employment resources in the region due to smooth transportation during and after construction.
