The membership of Janata Dal United (JDU) MP Girdhari Yadav from the Banka Lok Sabha seat appears to be in jeopardy as the JDU has initiated the process to terminate his membership. The party's parliamentary leader and MP from Supaul, Dineshwar Kamat, has submitted a petition to the Lok Sabha Speaker, demanding the cancellation of Girdhari Yadav's membership. The party is terming this as a strict measure to maintain discipline. Dineshwar Kamat said that Girdhari Yadav has made statements contrary to the party's official line. Additionally, he secured a ticket for his son from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) in the assembly elections and campaigned for him, which is considered anti-party activity. Union Minister and senior JDU leader Lalan Singh said that the petition was submitted by the parliamentary leader and now the party leadership and the Speaker will consider it. He also reiterated the allegation that Girdhari Yadav had made his son contest the election on an RJD ticket and was himself active in the campaign. JDU's Executive President and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Kumar Jha said that this is a clear case of rebellion against the party line. He pointed out that Girdhari Yadav's son had contested the election on an RJD ticket from the same constituency from where he himself is an MP. Amid these allegations, Girdhari Yadav said that he has never worked against the party. He said that when he receives a summons from the Lok Sabha Speaker, he will respond. Actually, Girdhari Yadav had commented against the party line on the decision related to the special revision of voters (SIR) before the 2025 assembly elections. He had termed the decision as a "dictatorial order" and a step taken in haste. The party leadership considered this a serious indiscipline. After that, his absence from a program held in Banka on March 17 during Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's "Smardhi Yatra" also sparked a lot of debate. Earlier, the party had issued a show-cause notice to him, asking him to respond within 15 days. He clarified that he had not received any invitation to the event. Now, everyone's eyes are on the Lok Sabha Speaker, whose decision will determine the future of Girdhari Yadav's membership.
