Awaz E Bihar•15 July 2026 at 03:15 pm•33 views•3 min read

Muzaffarpur: In Bihar's Muzaffarpur district, a laborer was shot dead by criminals in the Ahia Pur police station area on Wednesday. The incident, which took place in broad daylight, has spread fear and panic in the area. Upon receiving the information, senior police officers reached the spot and, with the help of a forensic team, collected evidence from the scene and initiated an investigation. Preliminary investigation suggests that the police are investigating various aspects, considering the possibility of an old enmity being the motive behind the murder.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Rakesh Kumar, a resident of Moti Pur police station area in Muzaffarpur district. He lived in a rented house in the Kohwa area of Ahia Pur police station and worked as a laborer to support his family. It is reported that Rakesh had left his rented house on Wednesday morning to go to the market. Meanwhile, the criminals, who were already lurking in the area, targeted him and shot him in the head from close range. Rakesh fell to the ground and died on the spot. The assailants fled the scene after committing the crime.

As soon as the incident was reported, fear and panic spread in the area. Local residents immediately informed the police, after which DSP City Vinita Sinha, along with Ahia Pur police station officials, reached the spot. The police took possession of the body and sent it for post-mortem, and began investigating the entire area. Considering the gravity of the case, a team from the Forensic Science Laboratory was also called to the scene. The FSL experts examined the scene thoroughly and collected several important scientific evidence and samples. The police believe that this evidence can play a crucial role in solving the murder mystery.

DSP Vinita Sinha said that the young man had died by the time the police arrived. The deceased was shot in the head from close range. She said that the preliminary inquiry has been conducted with the deceased's family members. The inquiry revealed that Rakesh had a past dispute with some people. Therefore, it is initially suspected that the murder was due to an old enmity. The DSP said that police teams are investigating all possible angles, including land disputes, mutual enmity, personal enmity, and any recent disputes. The footage from nearby CCTV cameras is also being reviewed, and an attempt is being made to identify the suspects.

The DSP assured that the police have reached close to the accused and will soon solve the murder mystery and arrest the culprits. On the other hand, local residents are outraged over the incident and have demanded that the police immediately arrest the killers, increase regular police patrols in the area, and effectively control crime.
