Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Thursday that the entire world is currently going through a serious and tense situation, whose effects are being felt by all countries globally. He emphasized that in such an environment, the solution to problems is possible not through military conflict, but only through dialogue and peace. Prime Minister Modi made this statement during a joint press conference with Austrian Chancellor Christian Stacker at Hyderabad House. He said that both India and Austria are in favor of stable, sustainable, and lasting peace in sensitive regions such as Ukraine and West Asia. Modi stressed that reform of global institutions is necessary to address growing global challenges and that both countries have a shared commitment to eliminating terrorism. The Prime Minister, terming Chancellor Stacker's visit to India as historic, said that after four decades, the visit of an Austrian Chancellor to India is extremely important for bilateral relations. The India-European Union free trade agreement signed in 2026 has marked a new chapter in India's relations with the European Union. Modi said that this visit will provide new momentum to trade and investment. By combining India's 'speed and scale' and Austria's 'expertise', reliable technology and supply chains will be developed globally. The two countries will strengthen cooperation in areas such as defense, semiconductors, quantum technology, and biotechnology. The agreement between IIT Delhi and Austria's University of Montgen is an important step in this direction. The Prime Minister said that the Migration and Mobility Agreement signed in 2023 will promote mobility in the nursing sector. Startup and research cooperation between the two countries will also be strengthened. He also announced the launch of the India-Austria Working Holiday Program. Modi mentioned that Austria's tunneling expertise has played a crucial role in projects such as the Delhi Metro and the Atal Tunnel. Austrian companies are also playing an active role in India's development in areas such as environmentally friendly energy and urban development. He expressed confidence that Chancellor Stacker's visit to India will take India-Austria relations to a new level.
