Major action against Madrasas in Uttarakhand, 20 institutions closed so far including Dehradun-Haldwani

The Uttarakhand government has stepped up action against madrassas that do not adhere to prescribed approval and educational standards. According to a news published on Hindi news portal 'TV9 Bharatvarsh', joint teams of the Minority Welfare Department and local administration have sealed several unapproved madrasas in Dehradun and Haldwani of the state. According to the news, so far 20 madrasas have been completely closed. According to Uttarakhand Minority Welfare Department Special Secretary Prag Madhokar Dhakate, action has been taken against 3 Madrasas in Dehradun. He said that Jamiat al-Salaam Islamia seminary located in Azad Colony has been sealed by the administration. There, the management of Madrasa Darul Arqam and Madrasa Darul Uloom Rahimiya located in Azad Colony (Majra) have informed in writing to close the Madrasas. Dhakate said that 17 madrasas have been sealed in the state so far, while the management of 3 other madrasas have given written notice and confirmed the closure of the madrasas. Along with this, a total of 20 unapproved madrasas have been closed in the state. He further informed that action has been taken to seal 2 unapproved madrasas in Haldwani of Nainital district. Madrasa Jamia Nooriya Barkate Amina on Shani Bazar Road in Gojajali North and another unapproved madrassa at Banbholpura, Indira Nagar have also been sealed. Haldwani Nagar Magistrate AB Vajpayee said that the madrassa management concerned had been asked to produce the approval documents. He said that if the necessary documents were not submitted, sealing was done as per the rules and regulations. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has given strict instructions that no educational institution in the state should function without fulfilling the prescribed rules and accreditation requirements. Under the new system implemented in the state, the government aims to ensure modern and quality education for children by strictly enforcing educational standards in minority educational institutions. Chief Minister Dhami has clearly said that there will be no compromise on the future of children or the quality of education. Along with this, he also made it clear that legal action will continue against the institutions violating the rules.
