New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday appealed to the public to make the 2027 census a success by participating digitally. In his monthly radio program "Mann Ki Baat", Mr. Modi said that the 2027 census has been digitized and all information will be recorded directly through digital means. The officials visiting door-to-door will record all the information by talking to people and entering it into a mobile app. Additionally, people have also been provided with the facility to upload their information digitally themselves. This facility will start 15 days before the arrival of the officials, so that people can enter all their information at their convenience.
He informed that after collecting the information, people will receive a unique ID on their mobile or email. Later, when the official arrives, they will be able to verify the information through this ID. This will save time and make the process easier.
The Prime Minister appealed to the public to make the 2027 census a success by entering their details digitally. He termed it a very important campaign and said that it is the world's largest census.
In his monthly program "Mann Ki Baat" on Sunday, Mr. Modi said that this month, several festivals, including the new year, were celebrated in many parts of the country. In a few days, on May 9, the birth anniversary of Guru Rabindranath Tagore will be celebrated on the occasion of "Pochish Boishakh". Guru Rabindranath was a multifaceted personality. He was a great litterateur and thinker, as well as the architect of several renowned institutions.
He said that Guru Rabindranath was in favor of industries that included sustainable employment and rural development. The impact of his Rabindra Sangeet still exists worldwide today. My visit to Shantiniketan is unforgettable. This is the institution that he nurtured with full dedication and hard work. I pay my tribute to him once again.
The Prime Minister said that the month of May also reminds us of the first war of independence in 1857. I salute all the brave sons of the motherland who awakened the spirit of patriotism among the people. This is also the time for school children's vacations. I request them to make the most of their vacations and try to learn something new. In this summer season, take special care of your health as well.
Our daughters performed exceptionally well in the math olympiad: Modi New Delhi, April 26 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed pride in the educational achievements of the country's daughters, saying that the Indian team has performed exceptionally well in the European Girls Mathematical Olympiad held in Bordeaux, France, and secured sixth position globally.
In his monthly radio program "Mann Ki Baat" on Sunday, Mr. Modi said that in this prestigious competition, four talented girls from India participated and won medals, creating history. He is very proud of this talented team, which includes Shreya Mandhara from Mumbai, Sanjna Chaku from Thiruvananthapuram, Shivani Bhart Kumar from Chennai, and Shrimoyee Bera from Kolkata. Our team ranked sixth in the world. In this competition, Shreya won a gold medal, Sanjna won a silver, and Shivani won a bronze medal, creating history.
He said that in India, the selection process for this olympiad is extremely challenging. It involves a multi-stage selection process, which requires overcoming difficult challenges at the regional, state, and national levels. After that, the students who perform exceptionally well participate in a month-long math training camp. At the end of the camp, there is a test for team selection, and the Indian team is selected based on their performance.
Mr. Modi informed that every year, around 600,000 girls from all over the country participate in this math olympiad program, and this number is increasing continuously. He expressed happiness over the popularity of this olympiad culture and also praised the parents for supporting these daughters. The Prime Minister hoped that the success of these daughters would be a guiding light for the country's millions of other girls.
Mr. Modi said, "The Northeast is like Ashtalakshmi for all of us. There is immense talent here, and the natural beauty of this region also attracts everyone."
In "Mann Ki Baat", we often talk about the successes of the people of the Northeast. Today, we are talking about a similar success in the bamboo sector. What was once considered a burden is now providing employment, business, and innovation. Our mothers and sisters are the biggest beneficiaries. You will be surprised to know how much of a difference the redefinition of bamboo has made.
During the British era, bamboo was considered a tree, and the laws related to it were very strict. It was difficult to take bamboo anywhere, due to which people moved away from this sector. In 2017, we changed the law and removed bamboo from the list of trees, and the results are visible today. Now, the bamboo sector is developing throughout the Northeast.
He said, "Let's take the example of Biju Sutradhar from Gomti district of Tripura and Pardeep Chakraborty from South Tripura. They saw the new laws as a big opportunity and connected their work with technology. Today, they are producing much better and more bamboo products than before."
In Dimapur and surrounding areas of Nagaland, there are several self-help groups that have added value to bamboo-based food products. There are teams like 'Khulu Creative Craft' that are working on bamboo furniture and crafts.
Mr. Modi said, "I have given only a few examples here, while the list of successes in the bamboo sector in the country is quite long. I request all of you to definitely buy some bamboo-made products from the Northeast. Your effort will boost the morale of those who work hard to make these products."
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that in the kind of pressure and conflicts the world is facing today, the importance of Lord Buddha's ideas and teachings has increased even more.
In his monthly radio program "Mann Ki Baat" on Sunday, Mr. Modi gave advance greetings on the occasion of Buddha Purnima.
The Prime Minister said that Lord Buddha's message is as relevant today as it was in the past. He taught us that the beginning of peace is within ourselves, and winning over oneself is the greatest victory in the world. Buddha's thoughts are a guiding light for resolving global tensions.
Mr. Modi mentioned a Chilean organization that is spreading Lord Buddha's ideas under the guidance of Durbapu Otzer Rinpochhe, who was born in Ladakh. This organization is making meditation and compassion a part of people's lives.
The stupa built in the 'Cochi Guaj' valley of Chile is providing solace to people, which is a symbol of how India's ancient civilization is reaching the farthest corners of the world.
The Prime Minister informed that the tradition of Buddhism teaches us to connect with nature, as Lord Buddha also attained knowledge under a tree. In this context, he cited the example of the 'Karma Monastery' (math) in Karnataka:
This monastery is located in a dense forest spread over 100 acres. More than 700 species of local trees have been preserved here, which is an excellent example of environmental conservation.
In his concluding remarks, the Prime Minister said that Buddha's message is not just a thing of the past but is also essential for the present and future. The occasion of Buddha Purnima inspires us to move forward in life with balance, compassion, and peace.
