Trinamool Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee said on Saturday that the party will continue its fight "without fear and without compromise" under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee. Abhishek, in a post on his WhatsApp channel, slammed the electoral process in West Bengal, accusing it of large-scale voter suppression, partisan behavior by constitutional authorities, and post-poll violence against party workers. He claimed that around "30 lakh genuine voters" were allegedly dropped from the voter list, which he termed a "tough election". He also alleged that the Election Commission of India, along with several government agencies, showed an "extremely partisan attitude" throughout the election. He said, "Democratic institutions that are meant to function impartially, seem to be compromised, raising serious concerns about the transparency, credibility, and impartiality of the electoral process in West Bengal." He questioned the counting process, citing allegations of EVM manipulation and their transportation, which he called a "mockery of control units". He demanded the immediate release of CCTV footage from counting centers and a transparent count of VVPAT slips to bring out the truth before the public.
He said, "Several disturbing incidents have forced millions to question whether the genuine mandate of the people has been respected. Democracy can only be saved when electoral institutions generate trust and confidence among citizens." He also expressed concern over reports of post-poll violence and alleged attacks on TMC offices and workers. Terming these incidents "very disturbing and unacceptable in a democratic society", he claimed that several party workers were allegedly intimidated and forced to leave their homes. He said, "In a democracy, no political worker should ever be forced to choose between their security and their political beliefs." He said, while trying to unite party workers after the electoral defeat, that the Trinamool Congress will stand firmly with the people of West Bengal and remain a "strong, vibrant, and uncompromising opposition" in both Delhi and West Bengal.
He reiterated that the party's fight for "democracy, constitutional values, and people's rights and dignity" will continue. He also appealed to party supporters and workers to contact him directly if they face any threats or violence and share any incidents of intimidation or attack. He said, "I will do everything possible to ensure their safety and will avail every available legal and democratic means." He assured party workers that he will stand "shoulder to shoulder" with them in the upcoming political battle.
