Mining revenue collection increased by 36 per cent in five months, with the department collecting Rs 985 crore.

Mining revenue in Bihar has increased by 36% in the last five months. So far in the financial year 2026-27, the department has received a revenue of Rs 984.99 crore, which is about 36% higher than Rs 725.5 crore in the same period of the previous financial year. Minister of Mines and Geology Dr. Pramod Kumar said this during a press conference held at the department's office at the Vikas Bhawan Secretariat on Monday. Giving information about the department's achievements and future plans, he said that along with increasing revenue collection, transparency and effective monitoring in the mining sector is being prioritized. Revenue collection usually increases by 10 to 15 percent annually, but an increase of about 36 percent in five months is a major achievement for the department. It reflects the efficiency of officers and employees of the department and improved revenue collection system. Dr. Pramod Kumar said that in the current financial year 2026-27, 316 arrests and 3,043 vehicles have been seized till August. In the year 2025-26, 233 persons were arrested and 2,425 vehicles were seized for illegal mining. He said that the department is fully mobilized to take effective action against illegal mining and illegal transportation of minerals.
