Modi criticizes opposition - Some people cannot think of India's welfare

Awaz E Bihar•15 August 2026 at 04:36 pm•22 views•8 min read

New Delhi, August 15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized the opposition without naming anyone, saying that some people cannot see the country's development and cannot think of India's welfare, so they continue to mislead people.

Mr. Modi, while addressing the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort on Independence Day on Saturday, said that India has a government, an active democracy, and a constitution that guides everyone, and based on this, the country is moving forward with determination, but there are some people who cannot see development. He said, "Some people cannot think of India's welfare. The country will have to be saved from such people. A handful of people are drowning in the abyss of despair, and when they nurture negativity, it leads to destruction and devastation. These small, disillusioned elements need to be understood."

He said that India has a strong political mandate, a stable government, an active democracy, a strong judiciary, and a constitution that guides everyone. Despite this, there is still a need to increase political participation in the country. Mr. Modi said that his dream is for one lakh young people to enter politics, who have no connection with politics in their families. These young people can join any political party, and this will strengthen the country's democracy.

Mr. Modi also emphasized the need for a uniform civil code and said that state governments should move forward in this direction. The uniform civil code has been an old issue for the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. Regarding women's protection, he said, "I stand under the national flag and request the opposition parties to cooperate in implementing a system of protection for women in the legislative assemblies."

One crore youths will get AI skill training in a year: Prime Minister
New Delhi, August 15 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that in the next one year, one crore youths will be given artificial intelligence (AI) skill training so that the country's youth can develop the capability to lead in the field of AI.

Mr. Modi made several important announcements in the field of education, skill development, and employment for the country's youth on the occasion of Independence Day on Saturday. He said that in the coming year, one crore youths will be given AI training, so that India's youth can move forward in this rapidly emerging field. He said that after 35 years, the country has brought a new education policy, which is benefiting middle-class families.

The Prime Minister said that between 2004 and 2014, the number of universities in the country was less than 350, and today, 650 new universities have been established in the last 12-10 years. He said that before 2014, there were only 400 medical education colleges, and today, there are almost 850 colleges. He said that foreign universities are also coming to India. Arrangements have also been made for the country's youth to receive degrees from foreign educational institutions.

Mr. Modi said that the country's youth are naturally inclined towards technology from childhood, and work is being done in this direction, which is why more than 10,000 Atal Tinkering Labs have been handed over to small children, so that they can develop an inclination towards innovation and technology.

The Prime Minister said that the expansion in the fields of education, skill development, startups, and new technologies is creating new opportunities for the country's youth. He appealed to the youth to take advantage of these opportunities and contribute to the construction of a developed India.

Mr. Modi said that due to the thinking of previous governments, the country is dependent on foreign countries for energy. In the last 12 years, his government has taken several steps to promote alternative sources for self-sufficiency in the energy sector. The government has passed the 'Shanti Bill' to increase atomic energy production. He said, "We have set a target of 100 gigawatts by 2047. We are moving forward with the goal of five new atomic energy plants in this decade." A significant achievement has been made in the direction of self-sufficiency in atomic fuel through the breeder reactor.

He said that before 2014, there was a gas network in only 70 cities in the country. In 12 years, his government has expanded it to 700 cities. This is the pace, this is the expansion. Today, piped gas is being supplied to almost two crore households. In 2014, the solar energy capacity was only two gigawatts, and today, a target of 160 gigawatts has been achieved. The Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Ghar Yojana has been launched to benefit the poor and middle class, under which the design of 50 lakh houses has been completed. Due to this, the electricity bill of thousands of houses has become zero. Not only that, but they are also earning by selling excess electricity. The government is providing assistance of Rs 80,000 to every family for this work.

The Prime Minister said that the work of electrification of railways started in 1925. In the next 90 years, only 30 percent of the railways were electrified. He said, "Look at our pace, we have completed 100 percent work in a decade. This is work. Due to this, the diesel that we have to import from outside is being saved, and the environment is also benefiting." He said that the government has not stopped here. The country has launched the world's first hydrogen-powered train. This is the longest and most powerful train. India has also hoisted its flag in the field of hydrogen trains.

Crisis has brought to the fore the schemes made with thoughtful planning over the last 12-10 years: Prime Minister
New Delhi, August 15 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday that the reforms and policies implemented by the government over the last 12-10 years, with the mantra of 'Nagrik Devo Bhava', have borne fruit, and despite the COVID-19 pandemic and the crisis in Western Asia, the country is moving forward at a rapid pace.

Addressing the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort on the 80th Independence Day, Mr. Modi said that over the last 12-10 years, several crises have occurred worldwide. COVID-19 had put the entire world in a state of anxiety. This was followed by wars in Ukraine and Western Asia. There was an atmosphere of tension everywhere. The 'predictors' had said that vaccines would not be available, people would not survive COVID, petrol and diesel would not be available, and gas would not be available. They had done the work of scaring the country, which gave them happiness.

He said that the country has seen that the schemes made with thoughtful planning over the last 12-10 years are bearing fruit. With the mantra of 'Nagrik Devo Bhava', India has made preparations over the last 12-10 years, and every step taken has borne fruit. Today, the country has petrol, diesel, gas, and urea. We are moving forward on the strength of our capabilities.

The Prime Minister said that the global crisis has affected everyone, and India is no exception. The price of a bag of urea has reached Rs 3,000 in the world, but in the country, farmers are still getting it for just Rs 300. The price of DAP is Rs 5,000 in the world, which is being given to the country's farmers for Rs 1,350.

He said that the country is not lagging due to a lack of resources, but often due to a lack of thought. The country is still dependent on crude oil. Due to such thinking, 90 percent of the country's coastal area was declared a 'no-go area'. This was a bankruptcy of thought. His government has opened it up as a 'go-ahead area'. Efforts are being made to explore new reserves within the sea.

Mr. Modi said that the government's goal last year was to become self-sufficient and not depend on other countries. The world has a lot to offer, and it is cheap, but it does not build our capabilities. We also need to increase our capabilities. "Make in India" and "Vocal for Local" have become integral to every Indian's heart.

Giving the example of semiconductors, he said that earlier, there was talk of semiconductors, but we could not move forward. In today's world, every electronic, medical, and transport equipment requires chips. Three semiconductor plants have started in the country, and exports have also begun. In the next seven-eight years, five-six more semiconductor plants will be started. He said that the entire semiconductor technology is based on critical minerals. With this in mind, the government has signed agreements with several countries for this purpose.
