Patna, 23 April (ABN) Deputy Chief Minister and senior Janata Dal United (JDU) leader Vijay Choudhary revealed on Thursday in a significant press conference that the proposal to make Smarat Choudhary the Chief Minister of the state was made by former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar himself, which was accepted by the top leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Speaking to the media at the JDU's state office, Vijay Choudhary answered various political questions. When asked that now the top positions in both the center and the state have gone to the BJP, he said, explaining the historical context, "For the past 20 years, the post of Chief Minister was with the JDU and the BJP was continuously supporting it. In the 2020 elections, the BJP got 74 and the JDU got only 43 seats, yet according to the decision of the alliance, Nitish Kumar became the Chief Minister."
According to Vijay Choudhary, this time Nitish Kumar himself decided that he would go to the Rajya Sabha and the responsibility of Chief Minister would be given to Smarat Choudhary. The Deputy Chief Minister assured the public that this is just an "administrative change". The government's basic policies and development agenda will move forward according to Nitish Kumar's vision. He clarified that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is completely united and the development of the state will be ensured through mutual cooperation in the future.
Vijay Choudhary emphasized that the people of Bihar do not need to worry, as the government will still work under the guidance of Nitish Kumar and the development projects started by him will continue uninterrupted. He said that the government is working completely under the guidance of Shri Nitish Kumar, and all the promises made to the public will be fulfilled on a priority basis. During the last two decades, the public has repeatedly shown that they trust only Shri Nitish Kumar's development policies.
Rejecting the allegations made by the opposition, he said that the claims of the state treasury being empty are completely baseless. He noted that during the RJD era, the finance department was consistently in surplus, while today the state's financial system is much more transparent and strong. Shri Choudhary further said that there is tremendous enthusiasm among party workers about Shri Nishant's proposed visit, and it is considered a positive move. He added that the comments being made by the RJD about this visit are completely politically motivated, while the people of Bihar have directly seen the benefits of the JDU's public contact campaign.
