Directive not to compromise the quality of nursing education at any level
Patna 01 September 2026: Continuous corrective and monitoring measures are being taken by the Department of Health to further strengthen the quality of nursing education and training in Bihar and to ensure compliance of nursing colleges with prescribed standards. In this regard, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Health Minister Mr. Nishant to review various important issues related to the nursing sector. Health Department Secretary Mr. Kumar Ravi and other senior officers of the department were present in the meeting. In the meeting, the work related to Portal BNRC, Recognition of Nursing Colleges and Workforce Reforms Nursing were reviewed in detail. Meanwhile, the Health Minister gave necessary instructions to the officers while reviewing the situation of adherence to prescribed standards in nursing colleges. It was also directed to appoint quality teachers in nursing colleges, complete the syllabus on time and conduct internal assessment. Health Minister Mr. Nishant directed that physical inspection should be done by forming a committee at the district level to check the standards of nursing colleges. During the inspection, it was asked to ensure a thorough examination of the infrastructure, teaching system, human resources, necessary facilities and other prescribed parameters in the institutions. Institutions which are found to have deficiencies related to standards, should be instructed to remove the deficiencies within a specified period. It was also asked to issue clear guidelines for all nursing colleges in this regard. Directed to install CCTV cameras in nursing colleges and provide live feed link to command and control center for effective monitoring of educational activities. Through this, the ongoing classes in nursing colleges can be directly monitored and inspected. This will help in ensuring transparency, punctuality and effective supervision in the teaching system. The meeting also reviewed the progress of the LOP received on the new portal. Officers were directed to speed up disposal of pending applications. Along with this, the status of previously received applications for offline recognition was also reviewed. During the review, it was directed that the institutions which have not requested inspection for accreditation should be inspected within a specified time frame. Clear timelines were established in such cases. To make the inspection process more transparent, fair and efficient, emphasis was placed on ground inspection by random inspection committees. Its objective is to ensure effective compliance of the prescribed scale by objectively evaluating the actual situation in nursing institutions. Health Minister Mr. Nishant directed the officers to ensure that the quality of nursing education is not compromised at any level. He stressed the need to strengthen the monitoring and inspection system as well as ensure effective compliance of prescribed norms in all nursing institutions. The meeting also reviewed the reforms in the nursing sector in terms of transparency, accountability, effective monitoring and quality human resource development.
