On Pension Day, Rs 1157 crore 72 lakh transferred to accounts of 1.01 crore beneficiaries
An amount of Rs 1100 per person was delivered through DBT, pension will be received on 10th of every month: Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary
Patna, August 10: The Bihar government, strengthening the social security umbrella, transferred Rs 1157 crore 72 lakh to the bank accounts of 1 crore 1 lakh 33 thousand pensioners in the state at once today. Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary transferred Rs 1100 per pensioner through DBT during a special ceremony held at Lok Sevak Awas, Sankalp Auditorium. All DMs, officers, and pensioners of the state's districts were connected through video conferencing on the occasion of Bihar Pension Day.
The Chief Minister said that the government has increased the social security pension amount from Rs 400 to Rs 1100 per month. The objective is to provide financial security to the elderly, disabled, poor, and marginalized sections of society. He said that the government has also ensured that the pension amount reaches the accounts of all eligible pensioners through DBT on the 10th of every month.
No eligible person should be deprived of pension
The Chief Minister, giving special instructions to all District Magistrates, said that no eligible person should be deprived of the social security pension scheme. He directed the DMs to identify all eligible individuals in their respective districts who have not yet benefited from the pension scheme and connect them to the scheme as soon as possible.
He said that the pension distribution system should be timely, transparent, and accountable so that eligible citizens do not face any inconvenience. The government is working to deliver public welfare schemes directly to the beneficiaries through the use of technology.
Priority to dignity and social security of the poor
The Chief Minister said that the government is fully committed to the dignity and social security of the poor, marginalized, needy, elderly, and disabled classes. The significant increase in pension amount is providing direct financial benefits to lakhs of families and making their daily life easier.
He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the monthly assistance for social security pensioners has been increased. The government's objective is to deliver the benefits of welfare schemes to the eligible individuals without any obstacles.
1.70 crore families getting 125 units of free electricity
The Chief Minister, referring to the government's other welfare schemes, said that about 1 crore 70 lakh families in the state are being provided with 125 units of free electricity every month. The state government is providing a subsidy of about Rs 23 thousand crores for this.
He said that through electricity, pension, and other welfare schemes, the government is continuously working to economically empower the weaker sections of society.
