A court in West Champaran has issued a public notice to Prashant Kishor, the founder of Jan Suraj, in a defamation case filed by Bharatiya Janata Party Member of Parliament (MP) Dr. Sanjay Jaiswal. The court has ordered him to appear in person or through his lawyer on July 28, 2026. The court has clarified that if Prashant Kishor or his lawyer does not appear on the scheduled date, the case may proceed ex parte.
According to court records, this public notice was issued after no response was received to the previous summons. The case is related to 'Damage Suit No. 2/2025', which was filed by BJP MP Dr. Sanjay Jaiswal in the Betia court. The case alleges that Prashant Kishor made statements against the MP in public meetings, press conferences, and other platforms, which damaged his social and political reputation. The MP has denied the allegations and demanded compensation.
During the initial hearing, the court recorded the documents and witness statements presented by the complainant (BJP MP). After that, a summons was issued to Prashant Kishor, but since there was no response, this public notice has been issued. BJP leader Dr. Jaiswal has strongly objected to the allegations made by Prashant Kishor in public meetings and press conferences. These allegations included serious charges such as the Nagar Nigam diesel case and changing the railway overbridge map to benefit the MP's petrol pump.
The MP claims that all these allegations are completely false and baseless, which have damaged his public image and political reputation. So far, there has been no public response from Prashant Kishor on these allegations. The next hearing in the case will be on July 28, 2026. On that day, Prashant Kishor or his lawyer will get a chance to present his stance. But if he remains absent, the court can proceed based on the documents available in the court records.
