Preparations underway for major change in Bihar's education system

Patna, August 9: (ABN) The preparation to give a new direction to the education system in Bihar has begun. The government has made several major decisions to make education standardized, modern, transparent, and student-centric. Chief Minister Shri Samrat Choudhary said that the government wants to create an educational environment where children in Bihar do not have to go to other states for quality education, modern technology, and competitive exam preparation.
At the inauguration of the two-day state-level workshop and 'Chintan Shivir' organized by the Department of Education at the Convention Building, the Chief Minister made several important announcements, including the formation of a State Education Reforms Committee and an Examination Reform Committee. The Chief Minister said that every school in the state needs to be made an excellent educational center. For this purpose, a state-level committee has been formed, which will review the quality of education, the learning level of students, and the flaws in the educational system and prepare an action plan for reforms.
There is also a major change in the offing in Bihar's examination system. The Examination Reform Committee formed to make exams smooth, transparent, fair, and modern will also review the assessment at the classroom level along with the board and competitive exams. The committee will recommend how to assess students' knowledge, understanding, analytical ability, and real educational potential, not just their ability to memorize, using artificial intelligence (AI) and modern technology. This move is expected to increase transparency and impartiality in the examination system.
The Chief Minister said that the government wants to hear the voice of the young generation directly. For this, ministers, MPs, MLAs, and senior officials will visit schools and colleges and meet with students and listen to their problems and suggestions. The suggestions received from the students will be uploaded on the portal, while a 'Sahayog Shivir' will be held at the Chief Minister's level every month, where the problems of the students will be reviewed and effective action will be taken to solve them.
The Chief Minister said that the future of Bihar lies in its youth, and the coming generation will take the state's development to new heights. He said that it is the government's responsibility to provide the same educational opportunities to children from resource-poor families as those from financially stable families. He said that a large number of students from Bihar go to other states for higher education and competitive exam preparation, indicating the need to create a strong educational infrastructure in Bihar itself, where students can get quality education and better preparation for competitive exams.
Referring to the Student Credit Card Scheme, the Chief Minister said that under this scheme, about 18 thousand crores of rupees are being given, but a large part of this amount is going to other states. He said that if better educational institutions and facilities are available in Bihar, students will not need to go out, and the state's money will also stay in the state.
The government has also emphasized the establishment of quality schools in the state. The Chief Minister said that so far, 551 model schools have been built, and the government has set a target to increase this number to 1001 model schools. He said that through model schools, attention will be paid to providing better educational environment, modern facilities, and quality teaching to students.
The Chief Minister made an important announcement, saying that from August 15, a system will be started under which children will be able to get online education till 11 pm. The government's goal is to provide more educational opportunities to students through digital means. He said that the current era is the era of technology, and the educational system will be made more effective, modern, and student-centric by leveraging artificial intelligence.
The Chief Minister said that along with providing computer and English education to all children, attention will also be paid to the promotion of Urdu, Sanskrit, and five languages of Bihar. He said that it is the responsibility of the youth to take Bihar's culture, civilization, and glorious historical heritage to the new generation.
The government has taken a tough stance to maintain discipline and quality in the education system. The Chief Minister said that strict action will be taken against those involved in crimes related to education, and if necessary, action will be taken under the Crime Control Act (CCA).
To ensure better coordination in various schemes and works related to students, it has been decided to bring the concerned departments under an integrated system. For this purpose, a directorate will be established to ensure the effective implementation of works related to the welfare of students, where a system will be developed to solve the problems of students on a priority basis.
During the program, the Chief Minister also launched the 'Vande Mataram' book and 'Vande Mataram' booklet. On this occasion, the Special Secretary of the Department of Education, Dharmendra Kumar, welcomed the Chief Minister by presenting him with a shawl, a bouquet, and a memento of Swami Vivekananda's statue. The 'Chintan Shivir' was attended by Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari, Chief Secretary Prity Amrit, Chief Minister's Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh, Bihar School Examination Board Chairman Dr. Anand Kishor, and other senior officials of the Department of Education.
