Chief Minister Mr. Samrat Chaudhary conducted an aerial survey of the current flood situation in Bihar today. During the aerial survey, the Chief Minister reviewed the water level of the Ganges and its tributaries, the situation in the rivers and lowlands and the ongoing relief and rescue operations in the affected areas. After the aerial survey, the Chief Minister held a high-level review meeting with the officers at 'Sankalp' Sabhagar, Lok Sevak Awas. During this time, information was obtained about the flood situation, water level, condition of embankments, relief and rescue works and measures being taken in the affected areas. The Chief Minister directed the officers to carry out immediate repair work and to continuously monitor the sensitive areas. He also instructed to carry out relief and rescue work with full diligence and provide necessary assistance to the victims. In the meeting, Bihar Weather Service Center officer said that according to the current weather forecast, there is no possibility of heavy rain in the coming week. Dr. Chandrasekhar Singh, secretary of the water resources department, said that the water level of Son river is likely to decrease in the coming days. The water level of river Ganga is also expected to continue decreasing trend in the coming days. A trend of decline in Ganga water level has already started in Prayagraj, the effect of which will be seen in Bihar as well. The Principal Secretary of the Disaster Management Department Mr. Santosh Kumar Mal said that relief and rescue operations related to flood in the affected areas are going on with full vigilance and speed. Food is being provided to the people in the affected areas through flood relief camps and communal kitchens. As per SOP, the work is being carried out in a better manner. All District Magistrates are on full alert. 27 SDRF and 9 NDRF teams have been deployed in flood affected areas. Special attention is being paid to evacuating people to safe places and carrying out relief operations effectively through these teams as required. During the review, the Chief Minister said that the flood victims should be identified and a list should be prepared and they should be provided immediate relief. It should be ensured that no affected family has to wait unnecessarily for assistance. The administration should work with the people with positive cooperation and effective arrangements, so that there is no atmosphere of fear or chaos among the people. He said that the administration should give priority to relief and rescue works by staying among the people with full sensitivity. In the affected areas, better coordination should be established between the district administration, SDRF and NDRF and immediate action should be taken as per need. The chief minister said that the banks of the Ganga river from Buxar to Bhagalpur should be continuously monitored. The water resources department and the district administration should be fully alert so that there is no major erosion or breakdown in the embankments. Continuous monitoring and necessary action should be ensured at sensitive places. He said that people should continue to provide food and relief through flood relief camps and communal kitchens in the affected areas and there should be no laxity. Relief equipment should also be provided to the victims in time. The Chief Minister directed to connect the command center directly with the CM dashboard for continuous monitoring of the flood situation, so that regular and effective monitoring of the situation of the affected areas, relief and rescue operations and administrative action can also be done from the level of the Chief Minister's office. He said that protection of life and property, immediate relief and effective rescue is the first priority of the government. All concerned departments should work diligently in coordination with each other and continuously monitor the situation. In any emergency, all necessary preparations should be made to evacuate people to safe places and there should be no shortage of relief and rescue operations. In the flood situation, full assistance was provided to the victims as per SOP. In the meeting, Deputy Chief Minister and Water Resources Minister Mr. Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Disaster Management Minister Mr. Ratneesh Sada, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Deepak Kumar, Chief Secretary Mr. Prattiye Amrit, DGP Mr. Vinay Kumar, Principal Secretary of Disaster Management Department Mr. Santosh Kumar Mill, Principal Secretary of Agriculture Department Mr. Narmdeshwar Lal, Secretary of Road Construction Department Mr. Pankaj Kumar Pal, Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Lokesh Kumar Singh, Rural Affairs Department Secretary Mr. Abhay Kumar Singh, Chief Minister's Secretary Mr. Sanjay Kumar Singh, Water Resources Department Secretary Dr. Chandrasekhar Singh and other senior officials were present. District Magistrates of 13 districts—Jehanabad, Arul, Bhojpur, Nalanda, Rohtas, Aurangabad, Monger, Bhagalpur, Begusarai, Khagaria, Lakhisarai, Katihar and Vaishali joined through video conferencing, while Patna District Magistrate Mr. Kandan Kumar and SSP Mr. Kartike K. Sharma was present in the meeting.
